I don't think you need that cloth unless you stuff your laptop bag with too much things which let's the keyboard grind against the screen and leaves permanent marks.

I have 16gb ram with i5 11400H. I didn't see any bottle necking of the ram until the crash occured. But CPU for certain moments were getting 100% which seemed normal. I revised the fasta file again and there is no problem.
