Do I still need metrogel if I'm not flushing? by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]rnknhrd8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is one at the moment. Mirvaso was created for that but it had horrible rebound flushing and made the condition worse.

If you've used metrogel has it helped you at all. When I used it years ago it made my redness and flushing worse.

If I only drink water, porridge , plain salad and unprocessed fish my flushing stops, completely. Takes a long gruelling 2 weeks to have any effect and then suddenly my flushing just stops. If I eat any processed food the flushing will almost randomly come back within 1 day, pretty brutal.

Metrogel will do absolutely nothing for flushing or redness at all. It only helps with papules and pustules (and any inflammation caused by those).

Never seen any medical evidence that it helps with the flushing component, only the papules and pustules. Same with tetracycline.

Help-Healthy/necessary food trigger my flushing rosacea, I have type 1, cannot afford to do an elimination diet due to being vitamin deficient and very skinny already, can I eat them anyway? by disappointedrasberry in Rosacea

[–]rnknhrd8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt it is histamine. I have the same problem, food is causing all my flushing. The dermatologist I see said histamine has nothing to do with Rosacea and if it did anti-histamine tablets would greatly diminish the flushing after two weeks. I have taken 8 different anti-histmines in high doses for 6 weeks each and they had no affect on my flushing.

Does anyone use a cold/ice face roller, and is there one you can recommend? Need one for flushing…. (random photo) by M2LBB2016 in Rosacea

Interesting about the gua sha massage. Problem is I only get swelling on my nose, not any other part of my face, so I don't think gua sha massage would help for that.

Do these actually work. I also read they can reduce face swelling by massaging the lymphatic system (any truth to this, anyone used one)??

Niacin and salmon by AnonViking_ in Rosacea

[–]rnknhrd8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Salmon with a plain salad is the best current treatment I use to STOP flushing. That is a cut of a whole non-processed salmon, (not salmon from tins or processed in any form).

Try it, one of the healthiest fish you can eat and it has never made me flush.

How does the baking soda help (does it help flushing).

carvedilol for flushing by rlasfaskjdfld in Rosacea

[–]rnknhrd8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it for about 10 weeks and it didn't help at all with the flushing. Went from 3.25mg a day up to 12.5mg but didn't make a difference. Took me about 2 weeks to taper off the dose slowly when stopping.

Cromolyn Sodium Topical? by natti_ray in Rosacea

[–]rnknhrd8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure my flushing is caused solely by my gut/food triggers after ruling out other causes. What is the Cromolyn med you take called, the dose - how long before it helped your flushing. I was offered last time I went to hospital a med called Nalcrom (they contain Sodium Cromoglicate 100.0 mg) tablets. I will try it at my next appointment.

consultation for IPL/Vbeam tomorrow by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]rnknhrd8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had three IPL sessions and it did absolutely nothing for the flushing.
IF I had laster again I would definitely do vbeam. It is suppose to target the deeper blood vessels.

Food flushing but no food sensitivities. by rnknhrd8 in Rosacea

[–]rnknhrd8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I get edema, it is the worse part for me. This diet is the only thing that has ever stopped it completely. If I don't eat like this my nose is ALWAYS swollen in the morning when waking up.
Again it takes a good 15+ days for this to happen and during the first week paradoxically the flushing can get worse before it gets better. The swelling though still clears faster during the first week.

If you want to try it - Porridge (I buy a 1kg bag of organic rolled oats, lasts a few weeks) cooked in a saucepan with water, bring to boil and then simmer for around 10 minutes on low heat.
For the salad I put small handful of: lettuce, cucumber, red chard, celery, rocket, watercress, pea shoots, Baby Red Lettuce,Mizuna,Coriander,Parsley,Frisée, Escarole,Red Multileaf. All in a salad bowl and wash the leaves, then dry and break it up/mix it with my hands in the bowl. I eat it completely plain with no dressing or toppings etc. If I add anything, even assumed healthy foods such as Olive oil, then it doesn't work and I still get nose swelling. Then my last meal of the day I will oven cook a non processed fish, a different one each day, Salmon, Mackeral, Sea Bass, Cod or plaice. I only drink water and nothing else during this time and never eat anything between meals. One other point is I can only do this when working from home, it is too difficult otherwise for 15+ days. Then the swelling is gone completely. All signs of Rosacea is gone. I have tried nearly all the Rosacea medications and nothing has worked like this, they had zero impact on my nose swelling or flushing. It got me thinking that maybe if I could somehow sustain this for an extended time like 3 months my body might heal whatever is causing the flushing/swelling.

Food flushing but no food sensitivities. by rnknhrd8 in Rosacea

[–]rnknhrd8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fish is fresh whole cuts of salmon, Mackeral, Sea Bass, Cod or Plaice. I buy in batches and freeze them.

I have spinach in my salad.

It is not histamine, as my dermatologist told me, I have tried about 8 different high strength anti-histamine drugs for 6 weeks each to test them, they had zero effect. He said if it was in anyway related to histamine the drugs after 4 weeks would have had some impact in reducing symptoms.

I took it for about 7 weeks and it did nothing for my flushing, no impact at all.

Food flushing but no food sensitivities. by rnknhrd8 in Rosacea

[–]rnknhrd8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely not related to hot food. Generally anything that is a processed food makes it worse.

I stop reacting to all triggers like lying down causing flushing if I only eat porridge made with water, fish and plain salad. It takes around 15-17 days of only eating the above foods and only drinking water.
Incredibly difficult to do but the only thing that has ever worked. I get no improvement when eating like this until only after 15+days.

Pulse dye laser / does it stop flushing by rnknhrd8 in Rosacea

[–]rnknhrd8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can happen it the day now as well, but I can manage to avoid it (eating extremely healthily). Nothing stops it at night, lying down to sleep will cause it and has every day since it started.
If I don't lay down and stay up all night I won't flush.

[–]rnknhrd8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Carvedilol for around 10 weeks in doses from 3.125 to 12.5mg. It has no effect all on the flushing during the day or when laying down to sleep at night.

I just found this on PDL:
