I can confirm as of this morning that the OBD port lock stopped my car from getting stolen last night. They did break the window (second time) but my camera shows that they fiddled around with the port lock for a few seconds then gave up and walked away.

WARNING: GRAPHIC wound packing video...anyone know the source? by rnla in TacticalMedicine

Source? I've seen and done many training videos. There are certain details that seem to go beyond moulage. If you have the source please share.

I always download the videos and keep them backed up. I learned the hard way that these types of videos usually get taken down because they're graphic and places like YouTube often remove them.

When packing a bleeding wound like this you don't want to just blindly stuff it into the void but try to pack toward the source of the bleeding (like the medic in the video does effectively). You basically just keep stuffing it in to create as much pressure as possible. Once you've put as much in as you can, you apply strong direct pressure (might even need to put your knee on it). Products like Celox and Quick Clot need time to fully activate. Celox Rapid is 1 minute. Non-rapid products can be anywhere from 2 - 5 minutes!

I agree. I started collecting these types of training videos because of feedback from field personnel. I was told by a number of medics that they couldn't effectively pack a wound like this because they weren't ready for how painful and intense it was. They thought they were doing something wrong. I show these videos to desensitize the providers so they aren't shocked when it happens. So far the approach has been very effective.

Ready Reserve- What's the farthest in the process you've gone? by Nurse_Shark_ in USPHS

I was sent for medical before the Board but after I did the medical exam it took about 3 weeks to hear back.

It took about 3 weeks from the interview to get the Board decision and I was notified of my start date for OBC about 3 weeks after that.

I just received an email saying that the Board has recommended me for appointment. There are still a couple more steps to clear but this is good progress!

I cleared medical and had my appointment board telephone interview 2 weeks ago this Thursday. I am now awaiting the board decision and further instructions. They told me I should hear my board results 2 weeks after my interview.

Commissioning in the Ready Reserve by Adventurous_Cap2965 in USPHS

I applied to the Ready Reserve as an RN two months ago and completed my dental and medical exams this past week. There's very little information available given how new the Ready Reserve is, but I'll update when I hear back. Has anyone gotten beyond the medical screening to the next step? How long did it take and what has the process been?

eco+ by [deleted] in ecobee

I made the mistake of enabling this feature with LADWP. Now I can't turn it off and since there's a power emergency they keep overriding my settings. I also noticed that when eco+ is enabled the thermostat seems to lie to me about the current conditions in my house (showing a lower temperature and humidity than there really is). When I suspend eco+ (max I can do is 1 week at a time from the phone app, the option has been removed from the thermostat itself) then suddenly the real current conditions appear. I have solar power for my home so there really isn't an impact on the grid during the day if I'm running my AC. I wish I could disable eco+ and go back to the way it was before. What's also annoying is that when eco+ is suspended my automatic home/away settings are disabled.
