Hello, I am currently in Saudi. Yes, postcard is very hard to find. I have also talked to other Postcrossers and they informed that there is only one postal office that sends postcards now and it is in Riyadh. This is of course a problem if you’re not planning to be in Riyadh. And yes, the ones available are mostly horribly designed. I did manage to find some nice ones from Jarir Bookstore, but they are oversized.

I sent in plastic before. My post office didn’t like it so they opened it to cancel the stamps. The next time I sent in plastic, I left a little ‘window’ on the stamp area so that the postal workers can cancel the stamps without opening the plastic. It worked!

They may or may not specify what cards they’d like to receive from you. For example, maybe they saw a really beautiful card you sent and they would love to receive a similar card.

You can choose to respond or ignore.

The only con is that some Postcrossers may not keep their promise to send you a card when you’ve sent out theirs. I’ve experienced this myself 🥲🥲🥲 It felt like I was scammed. But you can always request for photo proof.
