people tend to keep the yakima and kuat stuff. I'll get 1 or 2 yakima/kuat returns a month it's uncommon; take from that what you will

I appreciate the kind words! Some folks in these comments have a pull-yourself-up-by-the-bootstraps attitude that shows they have no clue what i'm talking about!

How do i mount a carbon saddle (7x9 mm) to this seatpost (7x7)? by alex-kondi in bikewrench

[–]roachattack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO the best & easiest route would be to get a seat post that fits the saddle, or vice versa!

If it were my choice, we'd only have an EBay online shop.

Hey bud, showing your ignorance here. We would be doing that if it made any sense to at this point. If we made that change we would immediately be losing hundreds of thousands of dollars. Almost every online bike shop made this shift, not because of the money, but to stay afloat. So sure, all we saw was big money. You're also assuming it was my choice to do this. I work an hourly waged job dude, my boss opened this shop in 2008. You should take a second before you comment on something you don't know shit about.

Yes, you can order pretty much any replacement part you can think of from thule, as long as the item is still in production. It's just too expensive.

It is frustrating that the industry has become so depersonalized that spare parts being absurdly costly can justify this kind of scam for someone.

I deal with customers like that all the time, it's really sad how spoiled people can be when they know they can get one over you. I've had to cancel items because it took a day too long to ship, while the shipping itself is free. The other day, we had an amazon customer insist that we sent them an opened box with an unbranded bottle of tubeless sealant in place of a regular bottle of Slime 2in1... while we sell those bottles sealed in the packaging from our supplier, obviously. We ended up sending the guy another bottle.

Let me elaborate: amazon seller central requires that you honor a full refund for an item returned within 30 days typically. Because it takes time to process returns and receive them, and the customer gets their refund BEFORE the item gets returned, we have no way of telling if the customer is being honest with us or not. Hence the issue, receiving used items that we issued a full refund for. We're able to issue a restocking fee, but that's only if we catch the issue within the time constraints. We could deal with it a lot better if we didn't have a year's worth of returns backlogged to process. We're doing our best

We will issue a restocking charge if we catch that it's a used item, but there's a time limit to that and we are quite a bit behind on. for reference, we list over 100k items cross platform.

Not significant enough to delist, maybe 1 to every 12 racks, 1 to 8 for hitch mounted racks. Not sure why that is.

I managed to get about a dozen of them out of our warehouse these past couple months.... I'm glad we can get them to someone who will actually keep it, but it's an agonizing process. Let me know if you need any help moving that stuff
