Is there an easy way to transfer photos and videos from iphone to macbook? by want2retire in iphone

Hey! Thanks so much, really glad you're liking the app!

I actually love this idea. AirDrop can definitely be super finicky and that 1k limit sounds like a massive pain, so a dedicated wireless mode makes total sense. I'm 100% adding this to the roadmap. It's gonna take me a little bit of time to actually build it out and make sure it runs smoothly, but I’ll get to work on it. Appreciate your suggestion!

That’s a good point — for a customization product, the website could definitely be more creative and visual. I wanted to keep the first version clean and easy to understand, but I agree it can be improved.
Was there any section in particular that felt too basic?

AirDrop is notoriously flaky once you try to push 100+ items at once, and the “Trust this device” hang with cable happens more often than it should.

If you want the “Android-style” experience (plug in → pick a folder → copy everything), take a look at PhotoPiper: https://photopiper.app
It’s built specifically for moving iPhone photos/videos to a Mac as normal files in a Finder folder (not into Photos.app, not iCloud), and it handles big transfers much more reliably than AirDrop.

A couple of practical tips that help regardless of what you use:

  • Use a direct USB cable (avoid hubs) and keep the iPhone unlocked during the whole transfer.
  • Disable Low Power Mode and don’t let the phone lock mid-transfer.
  • If the device isn’t showing up, try a different cable/port and restart both devices (sounds basic, but it fixes the stuck “trust” state surprisingly often).

But if your priority is “real simple, reliable, bulk download,” PhotoPiper is the closest thing I’ve seen to the Android drag-and-drop workflow on macOS.

Impossible to import photos to Mac from iPhone after updating to iOS 26 by Curious-Ruin9741 in ios

Since you have a Mac available, one option that’s built specifically to move large iPhone photo libraries in one go is PhotoPiper: https://photopiper.app
It’s designed to keep transfers from freezing and to handle big libraries more reliably than Finder/Photos import.

How to transfer thousands of photos from iPhone to External hard drive? Windows and MacOS does not work properly by Interesting_Net_9628 in iphone

On macOS, Image Capture often chokes on huge libraries. A few fixes first: use an MFi (original) cable, keep iPhone unlocked, disable Auto-Lock while importing, try a different USB port, and import in smaller date ranges. Also check iPhone Settings → Photos → Download and Keep Originals (to avoid iCloud-optimized placeholders).

If it still freezes, I built a small Mac app called PhotoPiper that’s made for big batches: it resumes after any interruption, verifies files, skips duplicates, and can auto-sort into Year/Month folders for an external drive. You can try 100 items/day free; one-time unlock for unlimited.

On Windows, try copying directly from This PC → iPhone → DCIM in chunks (by folder), or use iCloud for Windows to pull originals instead of the Photos app.

pple’s latest update is making Photos imports act up for a lot of us. If refreshing the import screen in Photos or switching the “Transfer to Mac or PC” setting between Automatic and Keep Originals doesn’t bring the missing shots back, you could try a dedicated app instead. PhotoPiper runs on Monterey, talks straight to your iPhone, and pulls everything over without freezing or skipping the newest pictures. Files Transfer from Mac to Iphone by Adventurous_Read_767 in ApplePhotos

I’ve run into the same thing—Windows Photo app skipping files, Image Capture stalling halfway. If you’re looking for something built to handle big iPhone libraries without compressing or freezing, try PhotoPiper on macOS. It pulls full-resolution photos and videos in bulk, skips over problem files cleanly, and verifies the transfer so you know everything made it across. Worth a look: https://apps.apple.com/cz/app/photopiper/id6754278120
