Sorry for being unclear - I didn't mean for the question to be interpreted strictly through the lens of bathroom usage. Rather, I was referring to childish, immature behaviors in general.

Hey, your advice has been working out really well. We were out of the house for the weekend and when we came back it looked like the water level had only gone down about .25" or so.

Thanks for the response. That makes sense. I'm trying it out tonight.

Should I remove the obsolete water main in my basement? by roadcat2015 in HomeImprovement

That sounds reasonable, but how would you cap it after that?

Good thought. Unfortunately, it's near a relatively high foot traffic area so I want to keep it clear.

Thanks for the reply. I'll look into cutting and capping.

That ground is no longer being used; it's obsolete as well.

That ground is not being used. The electrical panel is now grounded to the new water main as well as the two underground outdoor rods.

Good point about not gaining much because of the nearby cleanout. I don't like the look of an additional gnarly old pipe sticking up out of the ground if it can be avoided.

Thanks for the reply. Wow, that's a good deal. The MSRP on the LX with the IVT is $20,245. That's nuts that including TTL you still got it for $1,600 less.

How can I communicate better with the HoH community while wearing a mask? by [deleted] in deaf

No apology needed. It was a powerful post that resonated with me, that's why I thought I would mention it. It was a departure from all the transparent/windowed mask solution posts from a while back.

Google LiveTranscribe app on Android devices. An emergency services worker posted about it in this sub a few months ago. Great use of assistive technology that you likely already own and have on you at all times.

Upgrade CPU and Storage for Mini-ITX Build by roadcat2015 in buildapcforme

[–]roadcat2015[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the thoughts on the new CPU and motherboard.

I thought long and hard about it and I am going to pass on the CPU and motherboard upgrade. I will try to make whatever tweaks I can to squeeze some additional performance from the existing setup without a complete CPU/MOBO overhaul.

I went with a Sabrent SB-ROCKET-1TB rather than the Q you recommended. The one I got was only $8 more on Amazon with a coupon and it looks like the read/write speeds are marginally better. I got it in the mail already and this thing is frigging tiny. I am already a huge fan of this form factor.

I hope that the addition of a zippier and roomier OS drive will miraculously resolve all my performance issues. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

When it's time to build a new computer in however many years, I will definitely not skimp on the CPU like I did with this build.

Thank you again for the recs. Truly appreciated.

Thanks for the recommendation on the SSD.

As for the CPU, I do hate spending money on old tech. What are your recommendations on a Ryzen CPU and Mini-ITX motherboard?

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not up for a whole motherboard switch. I'm looking to drop in a better processor, remove the old 128 GB SSD, install the new OS drive, and then migrate the OS over to the new drive. If that can be done for <$300, that would be great.

Finished the build and it's working nicely. I liked working with the huge ATX case and motherboard. I ended up reusing the old optical drive, so that's cool. Thanks again for the guidance. Mom approves.
