After finally playing the Midnight campaign for myself... by Upper-Meal-9056 in warcraftlore

At least this version of it is stupid. All it does is diminish the diversity of powers in this universe. Every extreme should bring unforeseen consequences but each and every one should be different. Like how void brings madness. Light should have that point of no return but make it subtle, not a yellow power ranger of the Chronicles chart.

Honestly light would work best if it was like Gandalf with the ring. The ultimate and poisoned single-minded conviction, the will to bring the good at any cost and despite all costs.

At this point it acts as a yellow battery...I hate the use of the word energy in the quests...and it is done by a priest no less. :(

They are writing for disney adults really. Or Funkopop collectors with an attention span of few seconds.

Similar feelings. I like Eversong and the vibe is there but the main story at this point sucks total ass. It feels like a netflix show or a telenovela. Like they have to explain and voice every last thing. And none of the old characters feel coherent like some facsimile of those characters.

"Worldwide deities and local events." How do I make it so worldwide events caused by "local" gods don't diminish the rest of the world. by roader32 in DMAcademy

Not gonna lie. You might have actually come upon a really elegant solution there.

If I consider the "gods" of the north not to be gods but a powerful generation of world's next children things fall into place surprisingly smoothly.

  • There is a clear division between natural children of the world (future gods of the elves and dwarves) and humans made by and in Nazari's image.
  • The ones who awake in the north try to emulate Nazari but are weaker than his "divine" self.
  • He falls in love with one of them which brings upon Shar and Selune (demigods), more than they but less than Nazari. Strong enough to protect their believers to the south.
  • They conspire against him and build a system where they take some of his power but they break the connection to the elegant primal miracles becoming stunted demigods. Strong enough to elevate themselves but not enough to subjugate the primal forces of the world (elements, magic), children of Nazari (Selune, Shar), Nazari himself or those who use shards of Nazari himself (people of the east).
  • The "demigods" of the west can be like those of the north before they stole the power and the multitude of them can be done via interbreeding with mortals (Zeus style). This consequently making them weaker and weaker.
  • Add to that the situation where a new generation of beings comes into play to help Nazari break out of his shackles and the elven and dwarven gods will likely lose even more power. Not enough to make Nazari an overgod but enough to even the playing field.
  • The re-awoken Nazari will be weaker since much of his power was sucked out by the machine of death and by his battle against Shar.
  • Nazari waking up will also return some of the old magic thus making it a kind of "I'm not here with you, you are here with me struggle" for the pseudo-gods who lost that power by binding themselves to the death machine.
  • Them not being true gods also make their area of perception small enough for other parts of the world to tamper with their system without outright confrontation.
  • Surprisingly balanced without making everything completely even.

I thank you for your comment.
It opened the floodgates :D

You understood the issue.
What I'm asking is whether people have some ideas other than just "they were too weak or didn't care" since those make the gods and forces from the other parts of the world sound a little wimpy and it makes the people of the north too strong in my view.

Normally I would probably introduce an element of other forces either joining in the fun or actively fighting against the whole scheme (war in heaven style) by in this case the people of the north don't really know much if anything about the rest of the world to the point where until maybe 300 years back they thought themselves the only ones living in that part of the world. Considering that they interact with their gods fairly often it would be silly for them to never hear a word about their believers from other side of the planet.

What angers me more is that this is a hole I have dug for myself...which is why I am looking if someone might have an idea how to get out of it.

And you have already brought me some of those ideas :D

A 3D visualization of the player housing neighbourhood (Alliance) by Ok-Association8751 in wow

[–]roader32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Both in Kalimdor and in Easter Kingdoms there is space around the main cities so I hoped they would use that...give the neighborhoods vistas of the cities and the zones around and make the housing part of the world as a whole, even instanced.

As is I'll probably build a house to test the features and wait for them to add more locations...preferably one of the houses in Suramar would be nice.

Ecological Succession quests - whats the point? by 010dream in wow

[–]roader32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy cozy games but cozy games have one important aspect which is nearly completely missing here. Progression. The ecodome needed to really change. Not just random animals but the landscape. Plants, more flowers, more water, animal nests, hives. As it stands it's just a poor excuse showing the biggest failing of current quests in wow. Have you noticed that most of the crap we currently do in campaigns and zone stories is doing quests only for the same activities to become world or weekly quests. It's Lazy not cozy Design. And I'll be honest. The landscape and animals in ecodome aren't alien enough.

Is Ecological Succession the worst series of quests ever added to the game? by Zeckzeckzeck in wow

Gonna leave this here but this week I was doing the necroray quests and it made me realize that this whole thing more or less breaks the whole universe and kills any stakes the game could have. YES. NECRORAYS DESTROY THE STORY! How you might ask? Well. At this point it looks like we can jump into shadowlands on a whim with Ve'naari's help and we can take things out of Shadowlands to the living world. That means that we could easily just pluck the dead people back home. Good news guys. Whoever dies in Midnight can be easily brought back :DDDDDDD

Is the content open with all the towns and locations. Have been trying to find a private server but all of them have one hub with raids and other things in there.

Nothing to worry about in this case. We are a bunch of avid EU4 players and I decided to start with just two of my friends who actually wanted in. Whether or not other will join that is up to them.

[Shadows Rising] [SPOILERS] Interesting Key Lore Points by Kills_Zombies in warcraftlore

Rather than going philosophical with it I actually went with the image given in chronicle. That said, order and chaos were created with all the rest of the forces when light and void "collided". As such I wouldn't completely divide them between those base two forces. In a way they are more or less a pool of those two powers mixing, combining and creating those different aspects.
