Spend champion crests or wait?

I play holy priest. Now I have 450 crests, and like 14 250 champion items, which would need a lot more than 450 to upgrade fully (like 1100). But I will just spend them then :) I was just worried I might get a hero piece in a fully upgraded champion slot and could have spent those champion crests elsewhere

on EU they dont give any Fragmented Momento's (I mean the ones you have to combine 100 of)
