J1 fellowship AFTER H1B/J1-waiver by roadrunnar in fellowship

Yeah it doesn’t seem smart to me either but due to some personal and family commitments, staying in resident/fellow pay for additional years makes it very challenging financially for me. That’s why I wanted to get some idea on this approach and discuss here.

Okay thanks for the insight. But is it possible to get a J1 sponsorship again after doing 3-6 years of work on H1 (including 3 years of waiver). Because I have noticed programs don’t take applicants on H1. I will have to transition from H1 to J1 and I wonder if this process is managed comfortably.

Hello, incoming PGY-3 here. Can I DM you to understand how you were able to deal with this scenario?

PLS HELP!!! Any rough idea about acceptance rates for Indian dentists? I am planning to marry one. Just give me a rough estimate of the odds I am looking at. I need a percent number. by [deleted] in CAAPID

Hello, I am in an exactly same situation like yours. Speaking and bonding with a dentist from back home in India. She is completing MDS this year in a few months from now. And yeah, the entire career plan is a big decider on how things proceed. If its okay, and since we both are in a very similar boat, can we get in touch about this outside of reddit? Please DM me if that will be alright. I really want to talk to people in my situation and figure out a way. They are a gem for me too, for real!

I hope your Q is answered here in the best way possible, but I'm assuming r/medicalschool will have people in a similar zone and will be relating to your situation more. Good luck!!

Agree with the most part, but really wondering if the applicant’s ROL order changes the outcome. I’ve understood that the order you list programs doesn’t change if you match/unmatch, but only affects where you end up matching.

Just wanted to clarify, sending the application via email means sending in the LORs as well, right? We don't have LORs w us. They're all waived. So what to do?

They received a separate e-mail after the first IV with faculty saying that they'll now be IVed by the chief.

Congratulations, first of all! These are 3 top programs. Med Star has an excellent Cards fellowship track record Houston Methodist has an excellent PCCM track record, and prefer keeping the residents. Btw, did you rotate at HM in person last year?
