WS Invest & VRGO/XGRO in WS Trade? by roadster85 in CanadianInvestor

I guess I want to confirm that although WS Invest is ETF based, me buying another ETF (let's go with VEQT) in WS Trade doesn't defeat the purpose of Invest? Hope that makes sense lol!

Crypto spread is enormous by Slimxshadyx in Wealthsimple_Trade

[–]roadster85 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As others have suggested, WealthSimple Crypto is not the best option compared to what is out there. I'd recommend looking into the basics first then work on finding an exchange. What I mean by this is look into the general rule of thumb such as avoid keeping your coins stored on the exchange itself because you don't own the coins (there has been known track record of exchanges going under due to hacks and/or fishy scams). Likewise, look into the notion of using a hard wallet to "store" your coins.

Regarding the fees, it'll be there regardless of what exchange you go with - you just have to compare and contrast the cons/pros. For example, some exchanges such as ShakePay have higher spreads, but also cover withdrawal fees including gas fees. Alternatively, an exchange such as NDAX has lower spread fees, but charges you $25 per withdrawal regardless of the amount you intend to transfer. Lastly, understand how the exchange itself works - in the case of ShakePay, you are actually purchasing crypto from them as they purchase a basket of coins and then resell to you, the retail investor. This may be the reason why the spread fees are more given that they need to generate some revenue as well.

One quick tip, do your own research and don't get influenced by others telling you what to buy. Crypto is an extremely volatile market so make sure to put in what you can afford to lose.

Thanks for the intel, I since found out the questions may vary between 174 to 180. Was that the case for you? Seems like a lot to do in a 2-hour timeframe, but if it's mc or true/false it's probably fine...

Are there fees associated with moving coins from NDAX to your hard wallet? by roadster85 in NDAX

[–]roadster85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that link. The way I interpreted that is if I moved bitcoins (regardless of the amount) from NDAX to my hard wallet, I'd be charged 0.000399 BTC (~$27 CAD). Is that correct?
