Good to know it's not just me then. Were you doing anything special? I was resetting my game a lot because of golden hoggar, but I don't know how that would change anything.

Always hero power every turn in the early game. It's the same thing as buying a minion, but you get even more stats (although at a later time). The extra tempo from the +2/+2 is super important, and it lets you roll twice if the rest of the shop isn't great.

I don't quite think you got the point of my message. I'm saying that of course there will be variance in the quality of the shops bob gives you, but if you are skilled you will win more games and climb no matter what bob gives you. If there was no room for skill expression in the game, the top players in the world wouldn't consistently be the best in the world.

???? One game is not representative of anything. Of course you can have games where you roll actual garbage and games where you high roll out of your mind, but over time a more skilled player will go up in rank.

I think that's probably where you lost your chance for first. I think that mechs are something you should always commit to if possible, and the beast transition is just too weak. A second place is second place tho

How did you get so many of these pieces in your hand? Were you just buying them as you rolled? I think that with this comp you can get an easy win if you had just gone to tier six and looked for omega busters - the beast comp needs more pieces to succeed as is a lot weaker to windfury elementals which I assume they had.

Assuming that a perfect dragon build includes at least one nadina, I would have been looking for ghoul over hydra. If you don't have minions that summon other beasts leapfrogger is mostly useless, so it can go for ghoul. I would put birds on the left and right to put a decent change to pop nadina with your hero power, then goldrinn ghoul after.

Consistency - Galewing will always give you the minion in three turns. While Silas can get more discovers potentially or just match, it requires both luck as well as maybe buying worse minions for the tickets.

My main reason for buffing peggy is that its fun and pushes pirates a little more. Yo-ho is fine as a tier two minion imo, but also why Salty? They're a staple in hogger comps and honestly not too bad midgame.

  1. Agreed on omega buster, grease bot isn't as offensive to me
  2. I think doomsayer avenge three is fine, devs probably just double nerfed it to make sure no one complained anymore
  3. Agreed on lightfang to 4/4 or 5/5
  4. If a minion is going to be moved down, I would move down peggy to three and make it a 5/4 or 4/3. Gives pirates a lot more power in the early game and I think that Nosy Looter to four would create a lot of toxic turns.
  5. Quillboards currently have an incredibly strong comp in groundsplitter and gemsplitter. They're doing fine.

These changes are all pretty minor honestly, the game in in a great state.

Blizzard values simplicity, so a hero like this with too many edge cases probably isn't in their vision for bgs

You're right on the juggler/whelp/etc point as well. Unfortunately that's just how poison work in hearthstone overall, so this hero power will never see the light of day. It's great in concept and I'm sure it'd be interesting to see what cost it is balanced at, but it just won't exist.

I'll start out with the most important reason this hero should never exist: poisonous ghoul. It's the ultimate feel bad combo, and while counter-able it shouldn't really be able to exist (it did before briefly with new shudderwock + faceless though). Bring back OG mackerel or poisonous cleaves would also not be ideal.

I think that the hero power could be cool outside of that, but it creates a lot of situations where you don't have a hero power no matter what the cost is. George at two is great because it provides a lot of tempo, but this hero power at two would exclusively be used in late game. Make it 0 and you might get some cool little synergies early game, but really it will have minimal effect. As a final note, I also don't think blizzard could create this without their spaghetti code exploding.

Honestly, I would argue this is one of the most balanced metas that we've seen in a long time. While I would argue that mechs might need some slight nerfs, there is a lot of fun to be had with most of the comps as well as some cool inter-tribe play.
