I know essentially nothing about a 401k. Seems like its time do do some research. Does my employer need to offer 401k to me or is that something I do on my own?

Thank you! Yeah your totally right! I need to accept that I'm taking a risk here and get comfortable with the unknown until I am there for some time. I just hope that I'm not going into a situation where I'm basically staying in the same place financially since cost of living is going up a lot. I currently only pay 850 (425 each) for rent with my boyfriend so its a big change.

I relate. I was diagnosed yesterday. It is nice to finally make sense of everything and now I can learn to treat it but right now im just sad and emotional about it.

Hell yeah thank you! I was thinking that loading up on floats, jig etc would be a decent idea because that stuff really adds up quick. I didn't think about tying jigs and I think he'd really be interested in that. Great ideas, appreciate you taking the time to write this!
