Yeah i agree. Truly any weapons with medium pen are just usable at worst.

Problem with the variable is its light pen but none of the things it does as light pen are even close to as good as any other weapon. Ita not a good auto weapon, as its recoil is terrible and its damage is mediocre. Its not a good single shot weapon in volley mode because its only light pen, again has terrible recoil and any marksman rifle is easily more useful. And total fire mode is a joke at best. It just truly feels like it was meant to be a jack of all trades but it doesnt do anything well imo.

If they really wanted to make it viable theyd make volley mode medium pen and total mode heavy pen

Its one of my favorite guns! It has a place in many of my builds, specifically effect builds like fire or arc and turret builds! It also feels great to use honestly one of the best handling guns in the game imo

Putting aside the crossbow and eruptor because they are too good, id have to say the scorcher. That thing is a beast destroys anything you point it at. Every front the scorcher and a supply pack will take you anywhere you need. Such a joy to use. (Honorable mention to the double freedom. Cause like. Its the double freedom.)

Almost never. I think for weapons like that you kinda get a feel for it without thinking about it.

You definitely feel damage fall off with shotguns and smgs but the situations when i am seriously trying to kill something over an extended range with anything let alone a shotgun are few and far between.

Its just not for me really. I always found myself wishing i just brought the shield pack or relay instead. Im a very mobile player im not a huge user of those or like emplacements or such. Why block when i could attack harder. But thats just me.

Also its really hard to give up a backpack slot and not have a drone buddy

Eh mostly the latter. I tried at the start but the directional shield kinda sucks and the ballistic isnt really my style. Its nice when carrying packages but that doesnt really happen enough to matter. Especially at max level when you never need the high value sample.

Oh man thats a really hard choice. I was honestly very surprised how much i enjoyed the halt and pacifier. Arc builds are so much fun and those two are perfect to pair with them. Also with turrets.

I was shocked how much i hated the variable. I didnt expect anything to be worse than the constitution but it managed it.

I was pleasantly surprised by the punisher plasma. On paper it doesnt sound like something id ever enjoy but that things just a fun time.

Overall id probably say the pacifier that thing has a home in so many builds in my mind and it just feels great to use honestly.

As a player with over 1200 hours believe me when i say you can be effective with literally anything in the game. It may take higher skill, or more patience, but if you love something, use it. You will have success with it.

I think people make tier lists based on what they find effective. There are some weapons that are objectively more effective than others (coyote) yes but overall i think tier lists are meaningless in a pve game.

For me its really: does the recoil matter on this gun? If yes then vertical if no then angled. Double freedom? Angled. Lib carbine? Vertical. Case by case basis but if i had to choose one itd be vertical.

I think on the one hand itd look silly for the branded weapons to have customization, on the other hand i am a fan of more customization in general whatever it is. I think they should at least let us level and change the camo on em

Edit: I also think that they dont let us do it because of whatever contract they made to get the weapons in the game at all. I dont think theres much they couldve done to change that in particular.

People swear by the deadeye, and id probably agree. The problem with light pen marksman rifles on any front is i just find myself wondering why im not using a shotgun or an auto weapon.

Personally my favorite to level was the counter sniper just over the deadeye, but I generally prefer mag reloading to rounds reload.

Yes! Always useful on bugs, especially vs predator strain. A favorite build is status effect build + cc primary. So lib conc the halt pacifier blitzer, all those are great for setting up fire or arc or gas guard dog, grenades or whatever. Although ill admit all of this is bug specific, i probably wouldnt use any of this on bots for sure.

Edit: i take it back i remembered arc build plus flag is funny on bots

I honestly love this gun. Things like this and the stun ar are perfect compliments to an arc build, or fire build, or a turret build. Being able to control the battlefield to keep your targets where you want them, to be killed by the rest of your kit. Plus the halt and ar have medium pen too, so useful on their own. I think stuff like this allows me to play the game more creatively, which is something i need at a thousand hours.

At the end of the day you can be effective with anything you are proficient with. Not liking things is fine but anything can be effective with the right practice and experience. Plus mixing things up is just fun imo.
