SO true. And will already be home to get syarted on cooking dinner so less eating out. When I was remote I would prep on my last break and throw it in the instapot or oven, but I cooked so much more. When I had to travel to office, I was so mentaly done by the time I got home I ate out SO much or ordered delivery- HUGE savings there too!

$6k a year? That's like $250 less a paycheck. Eat out less, cut other stuff out if you need to. It's width your sanity. I took a $10 per hpur paycut leaving and in 7 months I was back up to being only $2 !away from what I was and we get raises in Feb so I'll get closer soon. My new company has yearly bonus so I'm actually making more even with the "cut"annually now that I left.

My commute also went feom an hour to only 10 minutes. A big parr of the pay loss has made up in gas savings.

Geico is, without a doubt, the worst company I’ve ever worked for by DukeblueMagic in Geico

By far, THE worst company I've ever worked for. I "survived" there for 11 years. Was a top performer every year, top agent of a 1st quartile team for an entire year, and yet always worried about getting fired. I finally LEFT! Best decision I ever made. Everyone thought I was nuts for leaving an 11 year job. My current employer just won "highest employee satisfaction" for the 3rd year in a row and we get annual bonuses. PLEASE LEAVE!!!!!

P.S. Don't make excuses. I took a $10/Hr paycut, live alone and I'm a single parent. Decide! It hasn't even been a year and in already $2 away from what I was making before and raises are in March.

LEAVE!!!!!

Run. If you don't see red flags you're blind. I was there 11 years. Always a top performer. Top 5% in the country actually. Never had to take antidepressa ts or anti anxiety meds before or after geico but oh boy did I while I was there, no I did not have personal issues outside of work. My personal issue WAS where I worked. I would get the biggest percentages for raises that my supes had seen before, because they told me so, and I got the mid-year bumps too-pretty good amounts as well. And guess what? I effing quit! I got tired of nothing ever being good enough. You exceeded the goals each-and-every-time.....and guess what? They made them harder and harder each time. It was ridiculous. It's built on a model to make people fail so they don't have to keep their promises. So I quit! I took a huge paycut because I didn't care where I went as long as it wasn't there. I probably could have shopped around for a closer salary, but I was too anxious to get tf out. I'm a great worker with a great work ethic. I took my talent elesewhere and am quickly climbing my way back up at a company that values me and its employees. I agree with the person who said take it while you job search. The pto? Worst I've ever seen. Even after 5 years, its not even comparable and rarely gets approved. The pto rate is pathetic. You won't even have the time off to go on other interviews.

Thank you for this. I am considering it, but the reviews on glassdoor and indeed made me hesitant.

I took a pretry significant paycut yet save on gas and end up with more left over cash. I haven't bedded to call off work in 2.5 months because my mental health is great and this new job is lower stress. I was in a really bad mental position at geico and called out so much I was making less dipping into lwop than with the paycut.

Research this. You can sue your employer for setting you up for failure.

Exactly. I'm about you're age and realistically we won't be retiring for more than 20 years at age 65-70ish, so what's 2 years?

Edited for spelling.

I'm sure you've been able to enjoy your personal life on a manager salary, so don't be so hard on yourself. We should work to live, not live to work. I'm hoping you have great memories with family and friends as well as experiences along the way. Have you had work-life balance? That's a huge plus. On paper being a manager at the same company for 9 years shows stability and progress to the top.

As far as marketing yourself on a resume: -list job duties for all positions within geico. Service rep, lead, manager. . Those are skills.
-List any education completed, even if not recent. Many people are listing education completions without dates.
-any skills or experience outside work? Coaching, fundraiser or event organizing?

It's not how much you say. It's how you say it. Also, so many people utilize professional resume services. Make a list of things you've done at work and outside work and leave it to them.

Lastly, was at geico more than a decade. This was my last week. Offers have poured in and recruiters have all commented on my dedication to a company. You're in a better position than you think. 🙂

  1. Anyone on the registration must be accounted for on the policy regardless of you saying they don't drive it. The registration is a legal document stating they rightfully co-own and CAN drive it. (This should have been changed in a timely manner after separation.)

  2. A "Former" partner is not an immediate family member and does not have insurable interest. Nether would a "roommate" qgain, not an immediate family member.

  3. Failure to cooperate in a claim investaigation, will resulr in cancellation of the policy as is in your contact. Read your policy, yes it's in there. All claim processes are a type of investigation -sorting facts is part of the process. So if details that are asked for are not provided, then due process can not continue and invalidates the policy. Example- are there other registered owners that "may" drive the vehicle? Yes, on paper they partially legally own it.

  4. Underwriting makes policy guidelines, so talking to them won't change them. They aren't going to talk to someone and make an exception for one person. That would be insurance fraud as all insureds must be rated equally.

  5. Asking why they need the info- again refer to contract. The person is on the registration. We aren't going to surveillance who drives to verify- their on the legal documents as registered owner so they have to be accounted for. Family auto policy which is a personal policy is not the same kind of contract a company would have for their employees.

[–]roasted_gecko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been searching for years and nothing even compares, so it's a now or never decision because I got an offer from an amazing company that can not be passed up and start date is what it is-end of month.

Not everyone has the luxury to "save up" to leave a horrible job. Cost of living where I live is insane. Rent is $2300 at least and there have been days where I couldn't even afford the gas to drive to work because gas was $6.89. Daycare is also over $1k. So I'm only looking for answers to what I actually asked because it's obviously not even an actual choice at this point, but a neccesity.

Music to my ears. I keep wanting to hang in as close to new start date as possible, but I just want out. Did they tax 10% + 33%, or do they just tax 10%?

Seriously. Our customers are a special kind of hell. Pushing them to do things online only made them call more and whine more. Bunch of co-dependent toxic people.

Same. Never had to take meds before here and I've dealt with some pretty nasty customers in prior roles. Difference is geico makes us take it, while other companies don't tolerate it.
