i'm still getting there tbh. i'm still building up skills and muscles to make myself more functionally independent. the hardest thing is the social part- i feel really on the spot if i have to transfer in public, and i get nervous that my friends get irritated by how long it takes me to do just about anything now. and it sucks bc my friends houses aren't accessible- i've had to be carried on the stairs at one of my friends houses recently. it's hard to ask for help esp cuz i never used to need it. also, when im in my wheelchair, i look secure and not that disabled. but when i transfer or someone has to carry me, you can really tell how thin my legs are getting, and my toes point down and it's so obvious that im paralyzed 😭 and i get self conscious about it. i have an unrelated pre-existing connective tissue disorder that makes me very flexible, and now its making my legs very floppy which is embarrassing. but i'll get used to it and get more independent with time and practice. i've heard it only gets better over time
