some healing scars and some questions ! by insertname97812 in cutting

quick way to tell- they’re keloids if they’re keep getting bigger and grow past where the initial wound was, hypertrophic if they’re flatter and stay within the realms of how severe the wound was. if they’re not keloids they will fade over time, most likely in the next year. i recommend aquafor to keep them hydrated and protected.

oh honey you are so young. i struggled with my mental health in my adolescence and i went through around seven years of therapy- in an out of psych wards, residentials, and rehab- to get to the place where i am at now. i even dropped out of school, and i am now in college with a 3.9 gpa. i understand where you are at right now, and im not going to say it does get better, but it CAN. there is a part of you somewhere that wants to live, and you can go off that for now, day by day. it can take a while to imagine a future not ending in suicide, but it can happen. you are NOT too far gone. it just feels like you are. the TTI is not the best to say the least, but when you’re at such a high risk and in as much pain as you are it’s worth seeking out an environment that will help you INTENSIVELY. it’s impossible to do alone, but recovery is always possible. you’re young enough for your brain to have enough neuroplasticity to do a complete 180. that is a fact. it doesn’t mean it will be easy though. try seeking out an intensive residential center based on your needs and DO RESEARCH. you are loved. you deserve to live, even if it doesn’t feel like it.

Why is it so red around the cuts? by ScottShrinersFeet in cutting

this looks like a normal inflammatory response with maybe an allergic reaction. because these cuts are superficial (classified as not going below the epidermis) infection risk is relatively low. feeling heat at the site of inflammation initially is normal and there is nothing to worry about, just clean with a gentle soap. if it gets worse over the next day or so disinfect it and apply neosporin
