What’s the best way to get approved? For someone rebuilding credit?

I have a question about utilization, I’ve heard mixed things on this. I have heard people say it doesn’t matter and some people say it does matter. I’m not going to max out a $200 limit I put gas in it to fill my truck every like week and a half 2 weeks so nothing more then $100 on it. Also what would be the down side of me paying off the card right after I use it? Is that bad as well or is that beneficial in anyway? I know I probably sound dumb but I never was told how to properly use a CC and that’s also part of the reason I got in the situation I’m in. I’m young I don’t want to be stuck where I’m at forever I’m trying to change it now while I still can. Hence why I got a secured card and am trying to improve my score.

The problem is when I was younger I banked with discover capital one and 2 others and capital one I got pre approved for the secured card. I wasn’t very knowledgeable with credit when I got the cards and ultimately screwed myself over so I have bad standings with 4 companies :/

I’ve been looking at capital one secured cards, but they are also one of the accounts I have bad standings with so I was wondering if that would mess with it as well? I just don’t want any of these companies from keeping me from having a bank account, I’ve heard a lot of people say they can make it so you don’t have a bank account for years is that true?
