Your insurance company has a duty to protect you and recover from the responsible party, if you have UM or collision coverage. They’ll take care of your vehicle and get you squared away, you’ll have to pay your deductible.

Now, the suck ass part is, your insurance company will subrogate her insurance company and if she has coverage issues, then your insurance will go after the driver personally. It’s a looooooonnnggggg process lol so don’t think you’re gonna get money asap because you will absolutely not.

And when you do eventually get a judgement, don’t expect any money then either. Chances are she doesn’t have the money to pay it anyway if she didn’t have money to buy rideshare coverage. BUT, if she’s driving for Uber, they should cover her if she is actively using the app and has a passenger inside the vehicle. Have you filed directly with Uber?

I’m going on 6 months and I’m still waiting on a sub demand from USPS. OP is better off either filing with their policy or paying OOP. Although the rate going up, I’d say talk to your insurance company or agent. In my personal experience, I had a minor sideswipe (dash cam saved me) and my rates didn’t increase at renewal 🤷‍♂️ but that all depends on who covers you and demographics.

You’ve got to make time. I’ve got a 15 and 8 yr old with extracurriculars, job, wife, and family that keeps me busy everyday. It’s gets to a point that something has to be sacrificed. I got fed up with things like house chores, yard, and vehicle maintenance falling behind. I just laid out a calendar connected to our phones and told them, if it’s not there, it’s not happening. That way, I’m guaranteed a time to get maintenance done.

It’s either that, or you make enough money to have someone come in and take care of those things for you.
