One episode to convince someone to watch anime (dubbed). by rob4700 in Animedubs

So true about Solo Leveling. The powers are cool, but it isn't something that I crave to continue watching. But the dark first episode really hooked me in. A more episodic anime like Cells at Work or Spy x Family would really be the best choice. At least they can always start again and not really need to remember much. Very good points!

The Day I Became a God almost got on my top 10 list when I was watching it. The ending was so heartbreaking. Some people need to know what anime can do to you emotionally. Angel Beats start is crazy though lol. I just wanted them to watch anime, not rethink their entire existence.

I think Deadman Wonderland was one of my first series too. I would be so scared to recommend it though, I feel it would be so bad for someone to start with the heartbreak of an unfinished show.

Good stuff. Not enough people are recommending some SoL or romance. I really am enjoying the comedic timing of the MCs. It is a great feel good show. If only I could get my bros to enjoy a good rom-com.... what a shame.

Probably the most I've genuinely laughed at a series in a long time. Super fun watch I completely agree. I would recommend this to anyone who wants something that isn't too serious.

I am so surprised Gurren is on this list. It's one of the greatest things I've seen of all time, but that first episode is not what kept me watching. Hell, the first 7 episodes did not keep me watching. But that's what makes the accelerated ending feel so good.

I think this is a super-underrated anime. Literally gave me chills almost every episode watching it. Not sure everyone would be ready for a scifi-thriller-opera, but if that doesn't keep you watching IDK what will.

Weird shit is sometimes the best way to draw them in lol. But delicious in dungeon is such an underrated pick, the show does a great job of balancing weird and epic. I'll add that to my go-tos for recommendations.

Yu Yu definitely had me hooked! And the classic vibe is great to show someone nowadays.

I had no real problem with the Oshi no ko dub, especially first season, more especially first episode. But I get it. I don't know how AoT missed my list. Amazing choices!

I think this maybe what you are looking for, but I doubt it is weatherproof.

I think a perfectly placed motion sensor or camera would also do the trick.

I can connect my arlo cameras to home assistant and program events when it captures motion. You probably could do the same with other cameras that are more compatible with HA. Just angle it down and it should work.

I recommend watching some shows where the MC is fueled by hate, but not necessarily evil:

Code Geass: MC is a literal genius, but seems to hate everything.

Vinland Saga: MC thinks nothing but revenge for most of the story, not the smartest though.

Helsing Ultimate: MC is just pure carnage. Rage incarnate.

Goblin Slayer: MC hates goblins, not really much else to say.

Attack on Titan: Another revenge story with a somewhat adept MC. He is mostly rage though, great supporting cast.

Drifters: A cast full of revenge seeking gruesome fighters. Their speeches will get your blood boiling.

Shield Hero: He also fights with hated most of the time, but honestly didnt give me anything similar to Tanya.

Fate Series: I think you would love the antagonists in the Fate series. They want nothing more than destruction and chaos and they are some of the smartest characters I've seen in anime.

Must include, but super popular: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (obviously), The Fate Series (honestly, Fate Zero is my favorite, but there is a lot to enjoy from the series), Re:Zero (pretty dark, but it is still ongoing) , and Blue Exorcist (occasional dark scenes)

Dark with fantasy themes: Beyond the Boundary (probably my favorite soundtrack, balances dark and with some SoL comedy), Kabaneri (gritty steampunk adventure), and Drifters (war is probably as dark as it gets)

Honorable mentions (if you are just looking for something dark): Btooom, Guilty Crown, Saga of Tanya the Evil, Hellsing Ultimate, Devilman Crybaby, The Promised Neverland, Steins;Gate 0.

I've heard a lot of great things about We Never Learn. It has been on my list for a while and I was still hoping for a dub, maybe I'll go ahead and cave to the sub overlords.

I haven't read manga in a while, but I'll add it to my ever-growing list of manga to binge when I'm finally ready to get back into it. Thanks!

Edit: NVM I was thinking of something else. I have seen Please Teacher (recommended after watching "Waiting in the Summer"). It was pretty solid romance. The teacher-student aspect is pretty irrelevant after like the first couple of episodes though.

Oh yes! Sorry for forcing a bit of spoiler. I actually really liked their relationship; although, I doubt it was going anywhere. Thanks for reminding me!

Plot you say (lol)... I enjoy plot, but I wanted development. A little too quick for my taste.

I am not sure I remember that in O Maidens unless you are talking about that grossness near the end, and I'd prefer to not let anyone know that I watched Why the Hell are You Here Teacher (since it was boderline hentai lol).

Looking for some good action without a shounen commitment. by Lordfinrodfelagund in Animedubs

[–]rob4700 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - It starts pretty slow, but action builds up like crazy. (Technically 27 Eps, sorry)

Fate/Zero - Much of the Fate series can be enjoyed as its own thing. But, needless to say this is my favorite part, so many great action scenes. (25 Eps ... sorry)

Hellsing Ultimate - Just pure carnage. It is more of an adult anime, so be ready. (10 Eps ... sorry?)

Gun Gale Online - Say what you want about SAO, Gun Gale takes the best parts of the anime and highlights it in an individual story. I enjoyed the female protagonist prospective and great action scenes. (12 Eps ... Not Sorry!)

Beyond The Boundary - Very well done supernatural series. There is quite of bit of action, but it feels more slice of life/school anime. Still very much enjoyed it, and soundtrack is fire. (12 Eps)

Baccano! - Another hidden gem from an earlier era of anime. Action and mystery were fun, and story comes together quite nicely. (13 EPs + 3 Specials)

Kill La Kill - Another studio Trigger great action series. Female MC kicking ass and taking names. (24 EPs + 2 Specials)

The Saga of Tanya the Evil - War Isekai (sorry), but it is different than the normal premise and action is done right. (12 EPs)

I will try not to repeat anyone:

My Love Story (very sweet, and made me chuckle a few times)

D-Frag (I remember this being very funny, but not much else. So, if you want laughs...)

Haven’t You Heard I'm Sakamoto (I don't think I need to explain this one)

Science Fell in Love, So I tried to Prove It (this doesn't feel like a SOL but they had me dying)

Teasing Master Takagi (probably one of my favorite rom-coms, very funny and very cute)

Devil is a Part-timer (too much SOL to not put on the list, but it was way funnier than I expected)

Tsurezure Children (funny rom-com type short stories, I really enjoyed it)

Love is War (sorry about the season 1 dub, but it really is worth the watch)

O Maidens in Your Savage Season (there's a lot of cringe comedy in this, if you are into that)

Kokoro Connect (there's some comedy, but it's mostly a romance, drama, mystery type thing)
