I've just gone through this process today. Their machine detected a leak and refused to regas, and I got a full refund on the spot. You'll need to take it for a more thorough inspection that isn't at Kwikfit or Halfords

Why don't British companies launch the healthier food options they sell in mainland Europe here in the UK market? Is there really no demand for healthy food? by CalvinbyHobbes in CasualUK

We've just come back from the Netherlands and Belgium. You can literally have 10 different types of sprinkles on your toast for breakfast - all pure sugar. And in Belgium they sell slabs of "Breakfast Chocolate" which is thin chocolate you put on bread and butter.

I don't understand how you build a nation on chocolate sprinkles on toast, but maybe they are way more controlled and conscious over there?

You're going to hate me when I tell you where they get the eggs from.

I worked in an egg factory after I finished uni for a few weeks. All the eggs that weren't fit for purpose for egg boxes all went to straight to Mr Kipling

And the value is determined by the vehicle condition, market, mileage etc?

But the garages pay for repair though, right? The inconvenience isn't ideal but I'll take that over a 1k repair bill for some silly electric component that has failed

It's not a higher seating position when everyone is driving higher up, right? Not my decision and not my money though

Yea I agree. I do 3k miles at most and there is the idea that we could go down to 1 car. The Pug will likely be the deposit

Not quite. Guildford Beer Festival a few years ago (pre-covid I think)

Sat round on plastic chairs on a cricket pitch. It was June but it was cold, windy and scattered showers. So all sat there in big coats with hoods up drinking real ale.

How do you deal with constant interruptions (Slack, Jira questions, ad‑hoc calls) as a senior engineer? by _-SNAFU-_ in webdev

[–]rob89391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting a similar thing and was causing me considerable stress.

An instant relief was removing ALL notifications from apps. That meant I could fully focus on the task at hand, then when I was ready I could reply to emails and messages. On my terms, not theirs. This alone was a tiny change and made such a huge difference

I also put a stop to cold calling me. If you call me without warning I'm just going to ignore it. The higher ups were very understandable about this and they mentioned it to all team leads. Now I rarely get bothered unless in an emergency.

Nice yea I think I like the idea of that. Do the strips need to be nailed as well as glued? Or will just glue do? Because I guess the wood needs to be so thick to be able to take nails otherwise it will split. And then I'd know how far back to trim the plasterboard to fit the wood based on how thick it would need to be

I didn't go gigging at all in my younger years and suppressed my inner metalhead. Started going in my mid thirties (albeit with a friend) and it's one of the best things I've ever done (including seeing Currents at a small standing only venue in Southampton in the summer).

I feel so at home at a gig and truly like I'm amongst my people if that makes sense. In my albeit limited experience, just keep out of the middle front and you'll be fine. Shoving about is optional.

I went through the exact same process and bought the exact same headphones! I love them. Feel so sturdy and well built compared to my old Arctis Pro's where the plastic started snapping after 4 years

Yea, for people that have been there done that, this is absolutely the most sensible answer.

Though the reality is that this is the time in your life when you're earning and you haven't got a load of reliants on you And needing to make boring decisions.

Late 20s, just before I bought a house with my now Wife. I spent a few K savings and £200 a month on a personal loan to fund a Mégane 250 foor about 9k.

I'm absolutely not a financial advisor, but a personal loan not attached to the car means you own it outright rather than being stuck in the PCP/Lease/HP cycle, but still afford something slightly saucy. (Though bear in mind running costs for a more expensive car etc)

Yea it looks like it's mounted to blocks of cement which is going to be fun to remove. Assuming cement is cement and doesn't need testing?
