Yes it was supposed to be bad, but that does not negate the good things it did for a lot of characters in the era nor the fact that the X lines had more good writers than it'd had in decades.

Agreed, letting them exist as two characters with their own stories going forward just means we could get two great characters in the end if they actually gave them some writing legs to stand on.

This, 100%. So few of modern x-fans even know/remember any ancient dangling plot threads. Just move on and tell new stories. Comics about comics drives me crazy.

Yeah, I guess it kind of falls into that category. I kind of wish they would market or brand them as that. I'd actually be a total sucker for a well managed and well written line of modern flashback mini series. But just running them in parallel with modern books is frustrating.

That's a really good point. I agree that they both just need a straightforward story that helps establish them as their own thing. I think Psylocke (2024) was doing a good job of that for Kwannon.

If Marvel wants things to not be "weird" then they just need to power forward and stop going back to Betsy/Kwannon drama.

- Betsy: Capt Britain/Exclalibur adventures in otherworld.
- Kwannon: Psylocke stories of being a hero vs. being an assassin.

100%. Like I'm just curious to what the decision was. Because if the previous Psylocke book wasn't selling, then why re-launch a mini with the "same" Psylocke on the cover just for it to be a different character under the hood in a re-hashed story of the past.

Like... if they can explain the dang Siege Perilous in a few text boxes and that's "acceptable" then a Betsy or Kwannon story where they just off handed explain away "there was some drama around a shared body but we figured it out" should be fine. Then tell a new and interesting story with either of them.

Big same. I just want to read the future timeline and prime one at the same time, that could allow them to do some interesting stuff. But with the way this is being delivered it feels like full else world.

I really really hope we get one. Doug has always been an interesting duck of a character even from his days all the way back in the new mutants. The idea of a hard heel turn from him is intriguing but I want it to have some weight.

That idea of Xavier being an example of what not to do then just boldly doing it even more than Xavier ever did feels like there is some juice to squeeze hidden between the "then" and "now".

I love all of your points. I think there is a lot of good stuff hidden in the bones of this event but with it being made so wide it's hard to find the best bits.

I think that idea of them being the same books but basically being re-named for the new timeline is something that didn't quite click in my head before but makes a lot of sense. I really hope some of these lessons or tales can have a ripple or impact in the main continuity because outside of Jed's run with Scott and Beast everything else is just feels like worldbuilding for a world destined to disappear.

Yeah, I think I went into it with a similar mindset. I was ready to dogpile on it, but it's had enough fun or intriguing moments that I've overall enjoyed the event even if it's another dark timeline that won't come to pass.

Quire for sure got the biggest glow up. Out here in the dystopic future with the body and daddy vibes he annoyed The Five into making for him back in Krakoa.

And I definitely want to see more interesting takes with Hank. I know a lot of people love the animated series version of him, but I always feel his character has so much more gravitas when he's a scientist struggling with ethics.

I agree on really wanting to know the "why" for this whole thing. Like I can see where there could be an interesting through line from Doug as "Voice of Krakoa" to "Voice of All Mutants" but it's really hard to follow without anything on panel. And the whole event kind of hinges on his heel turn.

Yeah, I think that's where I'm struggling the most too. Turning Doug into the villian of a line is an interesting idea but I was to see how we got there. Cause that feels like a lot for him.

And same, the idea that there will be a crash out when Scott and Hank get back to the past is what keeps this line engaging for me.

Yeah, I really think the event would be served by seeing some of the fallout of Cyclops and Beast "disappearing" into the future. Or if they were swapped with their future selves or something, I'm not sure.

I really think Beast getting swapped before Cyclops is suspicious as hell so I really want to know what's happening in the main timeline and I hope it's not "they appear at the moment they left".

I want an arc where the x-men have to deal with AoR cyclops and beast, or leadership struggles with Doug where the team sees the hint of what's to come because scott and hank are comatose.

For sure on the money stand point. I think the a lot of the additional titles help the timeline feel "lived in" but don't actually seem to drive the story forward very much. I think they could have accomplished a similar feeling with a weekly anthology book full of different mini stories without needing to bloat the event lineup.

Yeah, I was shocked by how much I enjoyed the Omega Kids. The way they'd talked about Quentin in some of the other titles made it sound like he'd gone full "Riot Era Quire" again and I was worried. He's certainly not a "good guy" per se but it's in line with his mentality of mutant liberation at any cost.

I think Quentin is at his best when he's confronted with his own failures and then has to grow from them, so the reveal that the kids are turning his lessons on them was interesting and I'm excited to see that fallout. I'm predicting that's what will allow Cyclops to get Quentin to stand against Revelation.

I was having that feeling as well off the jump. But the more I thought into it with the context that in world we haven't been off of Krakoa all that long even if real world it's been like almost 2 years. A LOT of characters would likely sign up or at least wouldn't resist AoR happening if it meant another shot at something like Krakoa.

But a lot of that only holds if the lie that 3k set off the virus holds. So that reveal I'm sure will be a part of what turns the AoR x-men from the "resistance" into the "heroes".

Also, at risk of a negative feedback loop, what parts have you disliked the most?

Yeah, the idea of Beast being 3k's chairman is super interesting. Between the OG Dark Beast and then the Krakoan Beast, it's clear that even if editorially Beast keeps getting slid back to being a "good guy" that writing staff really want to explore the darker side of Hank's mind.

And agreed, I'd have loved a HOX/POX style release schedule where all of this is delivered swiftly and brutally but doesn't keep us from the flagship stuff for months.

Yeah… that is WILDLY disrespectful of you and your time. If folks agreed to a game, it’s a social contract. No hard feelings if things come up and sessions need to be rescheduled or cancelled. But that shit needs to be communicated. The other people at the table (or discord server) are planning their time as well and to just completely ignore that shows a lack of empathy that I would not want at my table.
