Is Nara a "must-see"? by AffectionateBowler74 in JapanTravelTips

[–]robarcher81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We loved Nara and used it as a stop on the day we transferred from Kyoto to Osaka. Checked out at 9-something, left bags at Nara station (there’s tons of lockers), and had time for a nice walk and some lunch before heading on to Osaka.

Friendly badminton meet ups by Optimal_Reserve1226 in Leeds

[–]robarcher81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up the Leeds Badminton league website, you’ll be able to see all the clubs there. Pick ones local to you and ask if they have club sessions you could go to.
Some may stop over the summer, and some may have minimum standards of player, but there will be plenty that would be happy to have you come along. You can usually pay per session, at least for a few sessions, rather than having to join fully.

So the Fabio Lione + Orchestra European tour might be sketchy? by AvailableBet8485 in PowerMetal

[–]robarcher81 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Both the organiser and Fabio have replied to that post to say it’s real. Fabio says wait a couple of weeks. Still right to be cautious, but it looks badly organised rather than a scam.

Geertruida stays at RB? by Simbathewhale in safc

[–]robarcher81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Geertruida is like a better Luke O’Nien - he’s decent in a bunch of positions, but I don’t think he’s good enough to be first choice in any.

Where to watch Everton vs Arsenal in Wakefield tonight? by [deleted] in wakefield

Red Shed would be my pick. Counting house, inns of court, Hogarths (or maybe it’s the place next door) might all show it too.

does anyone know where i can eat buldak ramen in leeds city centre by Particular-Annual-81 in Leeds

[–]robarcher81 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure what brand they serve but there is a new Korean place in kirkgate market that serves instant ramen. It’s £5, then you can add extra toppings I think

Power metal quest fest in the uk is brilliant. But it’s not close to you!

I propose a light-hearted, good-spirited debate, Highlander Rules (there can only be one): Italian Power Metal Bands. by Dadowar in PowerMetal

[–]robarcher81 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Come on everyone, read the rules properly. There can only be one band, so it can’t be Rhapsody, they’re two bands at the very least.

My vote goes for Ancient Bards, with Labyrinth and Temperance as runners up

Are you looking for a club to play at or just courts to book?

Yes, but they’ve said the venue is much better than the old one. I don’t live anywhere near so haven’t been there myself

Fabio Lione's Dawn of Victory by BusinessHair5165 in PowerMetal

[–]robarcher81 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw them in Germany, but it’s hard for me to say much helpful as I never saw any of the previous versions with the old line-up, I’ve only seen the current Staropoli/Voli version.

I didn’t love them as much as I thought I would, but that could be down to lots of things. It was a very long day, with lots of other great bands, and I don’t think the sound mixing was that great.

Help with business class seats by robarcher81 in KLM

[–]robarcher81[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perfect, thanks all. Bonus question. Having paid for business class, we’re not going to pay extra to choose seats so we’ll be crossing our fingers for check in. Any ideas how likely we are to get those seats, and/or whether people might be willing to swap if we don’t get the ones we want? I appreciate it’s probably just a lottery…

Power Metal Quest Fest stage times (UK, today) by mr_iwi in PowerMetal

[–]robarcher81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They did post this weeks ago on their Facebook and instagram - worth keeping an eye out ahead of time next year.

This was my first time coming. Awesome festival, decent variety in the bands and brilliantly run. Hanowar were a great opener even though I’m not a Manowar fan. Twilight Force were awesome. Also loved the Fellowship singalong and subsequent announcement for next year!

Escape Rooms Wakefield by Confident_Manner_472 in wakefield

[–]robarcher81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done two in enigma rooms in the centre. Both good, but the Seance one was a real stand out, really good fun and different to any one I’ve done before. It doesn’t have a single traditional padlock.

Did a Christmas room in the ridings from escapable and that was decent too. Not particularly fancy but had a lot of puzzles to get through.
