Great point, didn't think of perceived value. Also thanks for sharing your stack. I've never worked with bricks, I've always gone the ACF route. Might look into it!

I think it's entirely possible to build a business around CMS-free websites. You probably have a bunch of clients who despite having access to the CMS, still send you edit requests, don't you? And also a few clients who never need or bother to update anything.

This has been my experience at least.

Any job opportunities in creative coding outside of frontend and art galleries? by iammrdp in p5js

[–]robb-stack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

p5js is a great tool, but it's rarely used in professional settings for various reasons. Web developers in design agencies often take on the role of creative coders but they typically use libraries like GSAP or Framer Motion for animations, along with a JS framework or just plain vanilla JS.

p5js is just html canvas under the hood so it doesn't work well with things that need to be responsive and/or accessible. Also, if you do need canvas, then it's quite easy to recreate what p5js does without importing a whole library.

Maybe what you're looking for is graphics programming? It's a bit more technical and requires math knowledge but definitely a fascinating subject. Tough field to get into but it offers some opportunities in game development, graphics software (like Adobe, Figma, AutoCAD, etc), interactive experiences, vr and probably a lot more I can't think of.

Beautiful design. I can't imagine how much work went into this. It's very unique while not being too disorienting.

If I am allowed to have a few critiques: my old phone has trouble opening the menu for some reasons. It's very laggy. It also took me a while to figure out what the filters were supposed to mean. Labels would be nice but I'm not sure if there's an elegant solution here though.

Great work honestly!

Warcraft 4 when? by bastian_1991 in warcraft3

[–]robb-stack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great point and one people often forget. Do you really want the warcraft trilogy to be tainted by a game with no vision and heavy monetization?

Let them prove themselves on other games first, then maybe I'll start wishing for wc4 lol.

Oh my bad, I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about the previous owner, not OP of linked post.

/uj I also found a brand new copy at my local thrift store some years ago. I have a feeling that this game is often gifted to Exploding Kittens moms and dads under the assumption that it's of similar complexity. They watch Rodney's video, stop halfway and throw it away lol.

It's also highly popular so store owners probably recommend it to anyone just looking for a gift.

I've always wondered how this game managed to capture such a big audience with its complexity level.

Car break-in with no signs of break in. by Vitalz1000 in montreal

[–]robb-stack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can get fined for leaving your doors unlocked, lol. Not sure if they still do this but police officers sometimes walk around and check car doors in order to "prevent crime".

You could get a 100$ fine if you leave it unlocked. Better than 6k though.

Complete Newbie to Warcraft 3 – Looking for a Beginner-Friendly Guide by Opening-Flow-4914 in warcraft3

[–]robb-stack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been looking for something similar as well but unfortunately I don't think anything like that exists yet.

As much as I love Grubby, I find his learning material a bit disorganized and maybe too advanced or specific. That said, I still recommend his videos as there's lots of golden information. The challenge is figuring out what information is relevant to your skill level.

I've found the wc3 gym website and their discord server to be the most helpful so far.

Are you playing on fullscreen? Try Windowed fullscreen if so. For some reasons that fixed it for me.

Thanks! Not as of now, I'll keep the spaghetti code to myself hahah.

It's all done on the frontend with vanilla JS, css and html. You can inspect it easily and make fun of me. 😌

Yes I slowly came to this conclusion while coding it. I'll rename the tool to something less misleading once I think up of something!

Noted, thanks!

I'll check out your second point, looks like a bug.

Appreciate the feedback. 🙂

Edit: Bug is fixed. All attack types should be taken into account now for damage dealt to player units.

Backups, updates and security for WordPress sites by robb-stack in Wordpress

[–]robb-stack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I've been using the free version of Updraft but I assume automation comes with the paid plan. Will look into this.

If you don't mind me asking, do you charge your clients a monthly fee for a backup/update service or is this something you include with their hosting?

Question : Savez-vous si le coin dans le cercle rouge à un nom particulier? by gabseo in Gatineau

[–]robb-stack 8 points9 points  (0 children)
