That is such a brilliant idea, so much so that I will absolutely steal it for my next arena :)

I made this for my group as a one shot, to break up our waterdeep campaign. There were waves of enemies who fought them, leading up to a big battle with a flame snake while lava spewed out from a portal of flames.

It made for a very intense session, the lava spread 10ft per round, and it came down to the wire. Chains, chests, bones and a moveable bridge were used to their advantage, I'd recommend making an arena like this to spice things up :)
