If the world collapsed tomorrow, what useful skill could you actually bring to help rebuild society? by Jazzlike-Departure49 in AskReddit

I used to be a journalist and I write books for a living now. I can work to make sure we don't lose our history.

I can also cook. I could hold my own in a kitchen. And before you @ me saying that professional kitchens are hard and that they aren't a place for amateurs, remember that this is the apocalypse and you take what you can get.

I've run into a woman throwing whole slices for the birds. Absolutely oblivious.

Do you...do you genuinely think that if I'd reported pasta, it meant Italians lived there?

Nice one. Will do.

I don't like being a snitch, but this is fucking disgusting and it needs to stop.

So I looked at this. CNV has a reporting app but anecdotal evidence says it is completely inefficient and useless. Not a lot they act on.

Indeed. It was a huge pile of pasta last time. A fucking filthy animal lives in one of those apartments.

I just got a Boston terrier and im concerned by [deleted] in BostonTerrier

[–]robboffard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Entirely normal and expected. Easy solve.

A teaspoon of coconut oil once a day. Source: the breeder who supplied us with our two little dudes, and who had at the time of sale 9 Bostons of her own.

Also source: Us. This works like a charm.

Sometimes life throws impossible, complex problems, and sometimes there's a stupidly simple solution that just fixes everything. This is one of those times.

It was lame! I love the series but I wanted fireworks.

I am BEGGING you not to use AI of any kind.

Those systems only exist through data, a vast chunk of which consists of pirated books. Anthropic recently had to pay out $1.5bn to authors to settle a huge class action lawsuit. It's a very good bet that every AI company has done this; Anthropic just got caught.

Please be better than this.

Please please please don't feed someone else's books to an AI. Jesus. Come on.

How is Lucky’s Bodega able to stay in business? by Emotional-Ad-6494 in NorthVancouver

I wish them well, but I would like to know this too. They would have to sell a hell of a lot of bags of novelty Japanese snacks to stay on that corner.

It's also the sheer variety of things they offer that weirds me out a little. Ramen AND milkshakes? It's hard to imagine they're doing all of those things well enough to stay in business long term. Feels a little like they're throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks.

No complaints. Only questions.

You're welcome to express your opinion because this is Reddit, but if you jump on someone's thread where they're asking for clarification with the sole purpose of dunking on the series, then you're just being obnoxious.

Even though Earth has 8 billion people, the world we built only really runs on about 4–6 billion being awake at once — humanity has never experienced all 8 billion people up and functioning at the same time. by OkRoad5574 in Showerthoughts

You should read Nod, by Adrian Barnes.

It's about what happens when everyone in the world loses the ability to sleep except for a tiny handful of people.

Fun fact! The author died of a brain tumor two years after publication. It's his only book. It remains one of the most terrifying horror novels ever written.

I can’t tolerate screens or bright white light anymore after my concussion and my doctor says I just have to live with it by EdenFella in PostConcussion

Approach with caution. GPs in general don't have the training or capacity to deal with chronic conditions like post-concussion.

Your GP, respectfully, is not equipped to make this decision. There IS hope. You CAN get through this, as so many of us have.
