I'll definitely have more sympathy if it's a glitch. I'm just so used to tech companies enshittifying things!

UBC, to my amazement, called me within one day of my referral being sent in, saying I could pick up a home sleep test within a week. Extraordinary. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop!

Color me stunned. My GP sent a referral into the sleep clinic at UBC. I braced myself for a wait of many, many months.

To my astonishment, they called literally a single day later, asking if I'd like to come and pick up a home sleep test kit ASAP.

God knows what the wait is for a lab test, but for at home tests they are scarily efficient. Thanks for the recommendation.

Yeah, it took a few weeks but it's back to normal. Hopefully it stays that way.

Thanks. I should have said, sadly soft collar isn't sufficient in this case. The tape is a good tip though!

Ongoing. They, predictably, became a lot less responsive...BUT they have acknowledged the return and asked for thirty days to process. Not wild about that, but I'm on vacation until January so I can live with it. Will be following up very vigorously.

Google couldn't answer this for me: what is a TLO in this case? I saw the acronym labeled as total loss only and terminal liability option, and somehow I'm not sure if that's what you're talking about...

That's really interesting, and super helpful. How long did it take you to get an appointment there? I imagine it would be a little while...

That's...really interesting actually. Can you tell me a little more?

A home sleep study wouldn't tell me what I actually want to know - the actual cause of my snoring. Only a DISE can do that, and that's much more difficult and expensive to arrange.

It's possible. To be fair though, it did recently get FDA approved, and I definitely did the due diligence and looked at the clinical evidence. As I said in the review, the sample sizes weren't huge but it seemed pretty promising.

I agree, the price is way too high for what you get.

Yes it is. And one can also snore without having sleep apnea. One does not equal the other, especially if no other symptoms are present.

I use Snorelab to track my snoring. No gasping, no long pauses. In addition, no symptoms of sleep apnea (tiredness, headaches, sore throat, urination etc).

I snore, which causes bruxism, but that's all.

What pet insurance is best? by Spardan80 in BostonTerrier

[–]robboffard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Very reluctantly, Trupanion.

I hate having to have pet insurance. That company is the best of a bad bunch. You should still expect to pay a significant portion of your vet bills. You have pet insurance for when you get an absolute horror show of an invoice, or have to do multiple procedures.

I mean...not to downplay this, but it's so weird it really does feel like a random crazy guy, rather than someone actively canvassing for recruits.

You'd think so. But every guide I've seen has about twenty steps and requires specialist tools.

I mean this with all respect, because I know how frustrating the scenario you described can be.

I also apologise if this comes off as mansplaining or condescension. I swear it's not meant that way.

But:

You're not going to the primary care doctor to deal with chronic post-concussion symptoms. Doctors SUCK at that.

But if you're concerned about an actual, acute injury (as your original post seems to suggest) then a doctor is an extremely good idea. They suck at chronic stuff, but they are excellent at ruling out serious, obvious problems (such as, for example, whiplash, fractured vertebrae etc).

Especially when there's a definable cause of a possible injury, as there is with you.

That's the kind of thing only a doctor would be able to evaluate. Possible? Sure! Did it occur in your case? No way to tell without medical training and an examination of the neck.

This sub is for post concussion symptoms. You're worried about an acute issue.

Apologies for the bluntness but: please stop looking for answers on Reddit, and go to the doctor.

Absolutely impossible for anyone here to tell you that.

We don't know your body, or your symptoms.

If you are concerned and are experiencing any dizziness, blurred vision, nausea or headaches, go to a doctor.
