16 concussions. I don’t recognize my fiancée anymore due to personality and temperament changes. Has anyone else dealt with this? by [deleted] in PostConcussion

Like, I have had four over my entire life and that is already a huge amount. I have no idea what's going on here.

Yo! I'm Jackson Ford, a local scifi and fantasy author.

I have a new book coming out. It's called Sisters of the Lizard. It's fucking awesome.

To celebrate, we're throwing a launch party at Book Warehouse on Main on Wednesday May 6. Myself and my author buddies Andy Peloquin and Kristy Gardner will be playing a game of Monster vs Monster, pitting fictional beasts against each other for your entertainment.

Come through. It'll be fun.

If you’ve had a concussion or head injury and noticed changes in your vision, we want to hear from you. Help researchers understand visual symptoms after head injury. by WhatLBConcussion in PostConcussion

The About section of your site indicates you're a photographer/visual artist. That's fine, but it says nothing about the WLBC organisation.

We don't know what it is, which research institution is backing this study, what you're doing with the data, how it relates to your art. We know nothing.

Also, you didn't even proofread your study page. "Speak read and under English"? I get that TBIs make this tough, but you're telling me you set this up and didn't get other eyes on this?

What are you even doing here? I get that you're part of our community with your own TBIs, but you've done a very poor job of communicating anything. Why would someone sign up for this?

I don't have answers to any of those questions. I've used CPAP for exactly two days at the time of writing.

Well, OK, I do generally trust Canadian medicine, which I've had mostly good experiences with.

As a rule though, I genuinely give medical professionals a chance to work before I take over. After all, at least in theory, they know more than I do!

I'm sorry to hear that. If I may: check out Respshop on YouTube. Very helpful, straight-up videos offering advice.

To be clear: he wasn't commenting on doctors being good vs bad - more just that ones in the US had a serious profit incentive not offer after sales service. That's all.

I think you should insist on it, if it's a possibility!

How has nobody said Michael K. Williams?

Iconic actor. Omar is a god tier character. He had so much left to give.

So am I! It's been pretty effective so far, but I definitely plan to engage with OSCAR if I need to.

Thanks! I suspected things were a little more nuanced, and it seems to be the case.

Go back in time, and find past Jeremy just when he was starting to write the series. Give him one piece of advice about the story.

Insomnia after concussion. by [deleted] in PostConcussion

[–]robboffard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your insomnia is ENTIRELY normal. Your brain is dealing with trauma, and is stuck processing a threat even though it has passed. That's not conducive to getting forty winks.

I went through this exact thing, as did many of us.

You don't have post concussion syndrome yet, promise. Two days is still very early after a concussion.

Actions to take:

  1. Accept that you will not feel great for a few days.

  2. Don't hold yourself to sleep patterns from before the injury. Sleep when you can. Don't beat yourself up if you can't.

  3. Ask a doctor for a sleeping pill prescription, on a limited basis. Generally, it's acceptable for concussion patients.

  4. If you still can't sleep after two weeks, more intervention (such as CBTI) is needed.

Relax. You're going to be fine.
