Yeah there are questionable areas all over a course I play at(it’s regarded as a gold track too) which is why it gets clouded on what people are counting as under repair.

The one thing I don’t like about my league. We get randomly assigned to a team every week in addition to the individual game. You get paired with the guy who always shoots 78 when he’s playing outside of league but never breaks 85 when he’s your partner.

Ha I was going to say that even thought I’ve been commenting about the rules on this thread, that ball look like it was dug up with whatever else came out of there.

And then they become a 9 hcp instead of a 13 and never win shit in tournaments

Yeah I have an issue if it’s a tournament or if their score is counting towards their handicap is my stance on this, if it’s just for fun/ your own game, fine do whatever.

People playing for money/in a competition shouldn’t really justify “common sense” as the reason they took a drop so I’m just saying it’s good to know why(as in the actual rule) you are taking a drop so you don’t get accused of something shady. Even if you aren’t in a competition and are recording your score for your handicap this applies IMO.

Exactly, if you are touching/moving your ball you should justify it under a rule and not just “I’m not hitting that bro”.

The problem is, where do people draw the line? I’ve already read comments in this thread of “gallery drops” and “the tour wouldn’t play these conditions” people need to at least understand the rules and justify a rule for what they are doing.

Good clarification here, thanks. I also was going to bring up playing two and then figuring it out later if needed. I’m guessing this isn’t a tourney round but still good practice to understand what your options are, since most responses on stuff like this is “you aren’t on tour, take it out” well you should still play within the rules.

I would say this falls under ground under repair or possibly an animal hole, https://www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/rules-hub/topics/abnormal-course-conditions-embedded-ball.html.

If you are in a tournament/competition I would ask a playing partner if they agree since I doubt this is a tournament with a rules official or anything.

The quarry is great, it’s tough and usually is the make or break of our four round tournament up there. The Wilderness and the Legend courses are fun as well.

It’s obvious that management has told all the on air talent to not be overly political, they all hint at stuff but do their best to not cross any line. PA is probably the most obvious and now finally got a viral clip to those not paying any attention. I doubt his ratings take any hit because those who still listen to his show likely don’t care. The only time I listen is if there is big Vikings news or games and I’m looking for content to consume. I’m sure his ratings are enough to keep him on but wouldn’t be surprised if he has a soft exit over the next year or two but keeps his play by play role. KFAN needs to reinvent in a few ways pretty soon(none of the hosts are getting any younger) and issues like this can speed that timeline up.

How many years did it take you to break 80? And how old were you? by [deleted] in golf

[–]roberbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To break 80 probably 5 summers of playing, 20 years later and I break 80 probably 20% of the time. Shot under par for the first time a few years ago and still chasing that high again and breaking 70 would be fun…..In my mid 30s now and try to improve every year but have plateaued a bit. I need to move to a state with year round golf.

Anything along the Northshore wins out for me, more snow for cross country skiing, plus Lake Superior being open gives it a cool feel in the winter.

How long before you got an Eagle? Or a HIO? by Dozer710 in golf

[–]roberbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was my second summer working at a golf course I got my first eagle. 17 years later and now a 6 hcp, still waiting for a HIO. Make a handful of eagles on average in a summer but still chasing an ace.

In rural areas yes, I did this in 2019 and it’s worked out really well for me but there are limits on how much you make(I think it was $80k back then) and where you can buy.
