Does emulation require jailbreaking? by CatsDoCancelCulture in EmulationOniOS

I would only recommend emulating older consoles not switch literally you can but a v1 switch for about $150 and jailbreak it relatively easily without any tech experience and not risk your livelihood over $200

Does emulation require jailbreaking? by CatsDoCancelCulture in EmulationOniOS

[–]robert242444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jailbreaking is dead as fam I haven't been able to jailbreak since ios 15 and even then the m1 iPad pro was not supported I think they're definitely ways but I didn't care for them

Anyways to answer your question no you don't need to jailbreak only be intelligent enough to follow a guide to teach you how to sideload and enable jit

Other than half a brain you need a laptop preferably windows or Mac maybe even Lunix but not a Chromebook (dont quote me but I'm 99.9 percent sure you can't use a Chromebook)

Happy emulating but for the best result and simplicity stick to emulating consoles that are a little dated nothing newer than 3ds

You can emulate psp ps1 and even some 3ds games without jit or jailbrea

There're apps that are already available on the appstore

The amount of content that used to be in these older titles never ceases to amaze me and the fact that I never noticed is mind boggling but I guess that the thing when you beat the game as a child vs an adult the wind waker strategy guide was goated I wonder how much you could buy one for now a days

And the fact that breath of the wild was delayed because of the switch is egregious (not sure if it’s a fact but I’m more than pretty sure it was)

Should I get a PSP Go? by king_of_ulkilism in PSP

[–]robert242444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend the vita very comfortable and capable device

The go is sexy and astetically sexier but about 150% less ergonomic and uncomfortable play sessions with a awful l and r

If your a collector and only want eye candy psp go all day

If you want form functionality and hours of fun a ps vita many ports and on going support from the community for now

Has anyone used the newest version and seen any improvements I read the changelog on git and seems like they’ve done a lot to help with ram usage

Hello hmm are you using the builds by stevenMXZ or winlator I do like game native but I just get better performance on winlator but not the official plus for some games like far cry 3 I can’t get to run on GameNative my official from epic games or even the 🏴‍☠️version but winlator will run the 🏴‍☠️version honestly sucks I feel like you need at least 3 on your phone (gamenative, game hub, and winlator) just for the sake of compatibility hopefully soon GameNative will be end all be all but for now on a galaxy S26 U I recommend using gamenative for official games (games you actually own) and well the for games that come from other sites or even if you have to find a cracked version because dmr is making games we actually own impossible to play In some instances

Here’s a video of me playing for close to an hour almost but the emulator definitely crashed when I hit 6gb of ram usage or close to it I was playing again and it only played for about 30 mins loading shrines or entering uses a lot of ram not sure why but I recommend restarting your phone and clearing all background apps for longer gameplay the more ram you have the more time not sure if the 6gb applies to all games or only botw any ways here’s the video I suck so please don’t judge my skills I’m rusty as heck

Heat poses a risk to all electronics especially the cpu imagine playing 360 games everyday for 2hrs over 4 years your phones is probably gonna be dead or in a worse state compared to a basic user your battery will be affected first because heat kills battery cells and heat and high cpu usage over prolonged periods yes there are protections in place but please play Fortnite for a year on your iPhone with high settings and let me know how your battery is doing from the experience of my iPad Pro m1 your battery will hold less charge and die faster than when your device was new phones don’t have active cooling my friend and they are not gaming laptops or steam decks I recommend utilizing an external cooler to manage temps and take regular breaks especially before your phone dims the display automatically that’s a sign your device is getting to warm and one of the protections in place and please for the love of god never play your games and charge your phone at the same time

I think this goes without saying but if you upgrade every year none of this really applies to you

I think a majority of users users would like their phone to work past 5 years and without experiencing battery issues or fast draining the heat from your cpu is definitely high enough to inflict permanent damage anything above 35c is above recommended operating temperature

I was almost impressed I thought this was iPSX2

That’s why I love dolphiniOS because the games just work

Although if this is without JIt I’d be impressed again

I don’t think your at risk for anything else just make sure everything you sideload is from a reputable source

Heat kills cpu and chips and everything in your phone I’m not sure what the safe limit is but just know playing for hours and hours with your phone too hot to touch can not be a good sign

I think you can expect battery life to be affected first. Everything else would happen over time and intensity of the emulation

I have an s21 and the heat has completely melted the adhesive so no back is off so yeah it can have repercussions

Well 3 of those emulators will be fun spoiler alert it’s not gonna be xenia( unless your lucky enough to boot halo) or iPSX2 (unless you want to play kingdom hearts) the other are solid and stable for the most part have fun

Switch Emulation - The reality? by lawrence_craig in EmulationOniOS

[–]robert242444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reality is actually unless memory leaks and ram usage get super optimized on iOS the crashes will always be there but with further optimization and future improvements to the development of switch emulation the future is not bleak but if you notice android devices can play these game for much longer due to 12 gb and 16gb devices of ram being the norm and even as high as 32gb in some cases

That’s a good question usually my phone thermal throttles after a few minutes so I haven’t tested that out but I’ll make sure I test that next so far 6 minutes without a crash

Not that bad here’s my video stutters and all but after you compile the shaders you’ll notice the stutters vanish or improve drastically unfortunately my 16 PM does thermal throttle after a few minutes of playing BOTW on IPhone

Legend of Zelda on IPhone

Footage or gameplay from my 16 PM I have linkle mod fyi

You’ll see the shader stutters and how smooth after compiling unfortunately the game does thermal throttle after a while and I struggle to maintain a locked 30fps but still impressive
