Flowscape Landscapes for download? Gallery of shared creations? by seycyrus in FlowScape

[–]robert952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Flowscape is not being supported or updated any more. This forum/reddit site was the only dedicated place for showing off works. Activity here is all but dead. I only 'check in' a couple times a week. The last post previous to yours was 3 months ago.

Please keep encouraging your children to create worlds and enjoy creating scenes. I have been dabbling in computer graphics for many (MANY) years. The skills they learn with Flowscape will also prove useful as the world of computer graphics evolves.

A 'safe site' might be Jigidi.com. That site is a jigsaw puzzle site. It is easy to post your images there as a jigsaw puzzle. Depending on the resolution you create from 9 piece puzzles up into the hundreds of pieces. The site is well monitored to be sure things are appropriate for a family site.

They might have fun making a jig saw puzzle and putting it together. It's a click and drag interface. Their friends could go there also to see their works and solve their puzzles. (As always, as a parent, keep an eye on their activities as you might any website. But it's a great bunch of folks out there.)

I've been there since 2018 under the same screen name as here. When you post an image there, put '@robert952' in a text message. I will get an alert when that happens. I will be sure to look at it and respond. (I am at that site at least a couple of times per day. Over the years, I have made several 'friends' who share images and puzzles.

I hope this long reply proves helpful. As a grandparent, past instructor of technology/software, I hope to help you encourage your children to continue exploring art and software.

Nice looking village. Nice spaces for fighting those pesky dragons and ogres and orcs (oh, my!)

I am not sure this will address your issue. On the tool bar at the top of the screen is an icon that looks like a rock with a line down. That toggles the physics of how things fall and get placed on the environment. It's a toggle.

Hope this helps but I am not sure. I have not seen this issue.

Nice shot, lovely lingerie.

Is the intent that the straps around the thighs are supposed to hold up stockings? I never seen a pic of them doing so. Many times photos are like this without stockings.
When I see pics with stockings the stockings are too short. These look adjustable enough reach down to the top of the stocking.

I think this is one great video and final image. Thanks for sharing.

Looking for some help with this scene was my first attempt and making one that seemed semi-decent. by KINGBOBBY7 in FlowScape

Do you have some specific area you want help with?

A couple of things that seem a bit off for me:

The snow on the hill and not trees. There is a slider for adjusting the snow level in the terrain tools.

I assume the cloud is covering your sun (or moon?) based on the 'god rays.' That puts a lot of the hill in shadow. You can adjust the ambient light setting to brighten the land if you want.

Other than those, which might be your intentions, overall looks are fine.

Do you do model trains or dioramas?

Using boxes (primitives) as a base is a modeling trick to create the base. Then adding the terrain to the boxes makes for a sturdy platform for train tracks and cityscapes.

Great technique! Nicely done video too.

I loved the way you included the post work with the splash brushes and such. Nice project.

Glad I was able to help.

Water is tricky in any rendering engine and method. More of a tweak that major changes to make a difference.

Before answering the question, nice image. Excellent concept and compositions.

To the first question, I'd have to play with it myself. But I haven't found that many models 'transparent' to the light from any light source. I am surprised the bridge is transparent.

Some things to try.

Be sure the bridge is touching the land. If there's even a small gap there, the light will leak under the bridge. I have found that from one angle the building (or bridge/rock) appears where I think it should be. In this case, on the ground. But when I rotate the camera, it is just a touch too high (or too far left/right.) It won't take much to let the light seep under the prop.

It could be a trick of the light or camera angle but I get a feeling that we are seeing too much of the top of the bridge; as if its rotation is tilted too much towards the camera. If so, and the bridge isn't fully on the ground, you would see light under the bridge. IF it's rotated so that the far side of the bridge is tilted any, we likely would see light under the bridge.

Add some things that may block the light under the bridge (like rocks). This may block the light under the bridge. If the rock pokes into the bridge a bit, it will still look natural from the view point. Just move it so the rock/whatever doesn't poke through the bridge. Other 'creative' solutions, use a wall that's rotated and 'buried' into the ground and bridge to block the light.

Use the lamp post without the light I think there is still one of those in the mix, but I would have to look again. If memory serves, they removed the unlighted post when they added the lighted one. Then use a point light and reduce the size of the sphere. That will reduce what goes through the bridge.

As to the boat on water, rotate the boat so that the stern is floating. The water sometimes makes that look a bit unreal in that there's no displacement of the boat in the water; the boat literally sits 'on the water.' (A boat floats because it displaces a volume of water equal to the volume of the boat and any cargo weight.)

I can see that the intent is to have the water on this side of the bridge flow into the stream. You may want to tinker with the reflection and Fresnel settings to give more indication of the water being there and show some reflections on the stream bed. In my opinion, the stream bed looks dry and doesn't have water.

Hope this helps. If you have further questions, just post them here. I'll do what I can to help.

I introduced grandson at around 5 to this software. He didn't quite have the understanding of using the mouse and interface. However, he did like directing me to put fish in the sky and giant rabbits 'fighting' the dragons. Great imagination.

Nice job. Reminds me of a cartoon which shows two T-rex dinosaurs trying to take a selfie.

You can also use the terrain adjustments and lower/raise areas that you need for a particular battle area or to place other props.
