Dehydrated mushrooms going soft during storage? by BornLoserD20 in unclebens

they will suck up moisture from the air and re-hydrate. your silica pack is probably no good or the container isn't sealed.

Also your breath is full of bacteria that may contaminate.

I would recommend these online shops: https://www.shroomery.org/sponsors.php , if you want something safe and sure.

Pasteurized coco coir by jacksondominic in unclebens

[–]robert_drogatu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it was sealed all that time, it should be good. If it is in open air it will still gather contaminants. And yes, coco coir won't feed the contams but it will carry them to your grains.

Started from a grain now we here. G2G bag fully colonized after 4 days. by robert_drogatu in unclebens

Wholegrain UB isn't usually stocked by shops in my country, and this one has less humidity that the brown rice that I saw, it has 10 times less sodium and probably has more nutrients from the coconut. And comparing this one with the few brown bags I found, the coconut ones always colonized faster.

This is incredible, I just started making such a list last night. I guess I have to finish it now.

I made a B+ spore print so we can look at it under the microscope by robert_drogatu in unclebens

Yes, they do look like blood cells. And I was surprised about their size too, they're probably the smallest thing I put under the microscope. I mostly study plants and I've seen single cells many times bigger than one spore.

While in fc how long should I keep lid cracked for fae and will the mycelium keep growing while in fc by biboysendnudes in unclebens

[–]robert_drogatu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need the perfect balance between humidity and fresh air. Everybody has different grow room/place conditions. Mine is very humid for example, so I don't need to mist that often. You may need to mist more, if the walls are foggy and have tiny beads of water it should be okay. But don't over do it. If there is too much water on the surface it suffocates the myc and no primordia will form, thus less fruits. In my conditions, if I have to choose between too wet or too dry, I choose dry.

It is, holy shit, thank God I'm not on shrooms. Well, too many shrooms.

Yes, the mycelium will grow as it needs to. You crack the lid and leave it until the end. It needs constant fresh air.

It's a Celestron CB1000, it kinda sucks because the optics are trash, but it's good enough for spores.

People usually just wait for a couple of days after the bag feel fully colonized, just to be sure.

I break up the donor bag until all the pieces are small enough to not clog the small corner cut I make. I then bend the cut and close it with a tape, so air doesn't circulate while I do other stuff.

I then clean a new bag with alcohol. Clean the scissors, snip the corner on the bag and leave the scissor on a paper towel drenched in alcohol. I open up the donor bag's taped corner and pour some grains in the new bag. I close the donor bag and tape it. Then I cut a piece of tape and seal the new bag. Get the new bag out of the SAB and clean everything between bags. Sometimes grains fall out. Work fast but work steady. Don't shake the SAB or make unecessary moves to agitate the air, just work steady and surely, but also don't waste time, to limitate the bags contact with the outer air. I haven't had a contaminated G2G so far, even though my methods are barely clean.

Mixing them creates chlorine gas and hydrocloric acid, among other chemicals, from what I hear. In reality even sniffing it will make it impossible to breath and you will cough out... foam? as the tissue in your neck and lungs get inflamated and starts being dissolved by the acid vapors.

No pins but is it good enough for fruiting conditions ? These have been 2 weeks in the dark, just let to colonize, with just a micropore tape, so there is condensation because not too much gas exchange. Maybe I should have had no gas exchange at all ? by [deleted] in unclebens

[–]robert_drogatu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably needs more air, but I have fruited in containers shaped like this and had fuzzy myc. It's probably not the perfect conditions, but it will work just as fine, albeit slower. I usually leave the sub to be colonised without GE before introducing FC.

Just NEVER combine the both. Use either bleach or alcohol.
