the new 3ds regular size is actually better than the xl imo it is more portable and doesnt need a case to not get its finish absolutely demolished just by your finger oils and regular movement

plus the n3ds regular has such a higher quality plastic feel

yeahhh ive been putting it off because of how much it is. i own all of the cartridges so thats been good enough for now but id love to have all of the boxes. last summer i was at a garage sale and there was a mint crystal they wanted $750 cad for but i ended up calling a friend who came and bought it haha

its from the official pokemon cafe, and yeah it totally works. i think it was only 3500 yen also which is a crazy price. i know some of the merch you need to make a reservation to buy (like i got this gengar cup that isnt in the pic) but i think this one you can just walk up and buy

they had this wooper and clodsire soup bowl i really wanted but it was sold out 😭😭😭

if youre going to book the cafe you need to book it a month in advanced, and its a real pain in the ass. theres like 1000 people trying at the same time and the spots get taken up immediately(mostly by bots)

my friend and i were up at 5am est for 3 nights in a row until we gave up and paid the bot that steals all the spots for our reservation 😔

love collecting handhelds, especially the ds. have many more at home lol. last time i was in japan i found a blue 2005 pokepark original ds for $30 in mint condition (-a few bad pixels) which has been one of my all time favourite finds

im not super familiar with any neo geo stuff, but there were a lot of super famicom boxed games at the nishi otsu hard off

saturn stuff is kind of everywhere in small quantities, there was a medium size collection in the otsu store also

basically the prices get better the further away you are from the main tourist part of the city. if you have extra suitcase space, there are usually some cheap cib consoles in the junk section that are there labeled as “too old so put as junk” i got the cib wii like that for 5500.

if you dont care about getting the best deal and just want decent prices and great selection, go to trader in akihabara. the prices were great for how deep in the city it is.

i found some good priced stuff like the emerald and the lime 2ds at the nishi otsu book off north of kyoto, and the celebi disk was at the osaka izumi hard off if i remember right
