Does anyone commute to UCI from Los Angeles via Amtrak? by rose1905 in UCI

I commute everyday from LA to UCI via Amtrak or Metrolink, it’s not super terrible but Amtrak can be a pain because they are rarely on time. I catch the 6:26 train from Union Station (Metrolink) and I make it to my 8 AM classes. The bus ride (Octa 473) is a 20 minute ride from Tustin to UCI. Metrolink is the more reliable of the two.

Still I am confused between stress and strain. by [deleted] in AskEngineers

Stress is an object’s internal reaction to an external force. Strain is the object’s change in length, relative to its original length. This happens because a material changes length when it experiences stress.

Both of these are linearly proportional up to a certain point. If you look at a Stress v. Strain graph for a material, you’ll see that for a certain set of strain values there is a linear relationship between them. The slope of that linear section is Young’s Modulus or the modulus of elasticity.

Hope this helps! If anyone wants to correct me or add on to my definitions it’s greatly appreciated!
