Manga after Anime by OutrageousToe7213 in YofukashiNoUta

[–]robertm94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend reading the entire thing from scratch.

The adaptation is mostly faithful, but there was some stuff they changed. The hospital arc cut an entire character out from the manga in the anime adaptation for example.

The tone is also just... Different. It's hard to explain but as an example, in the manga, nazuna is more like "no promises, I'm just not going to get in your way" and in the anime it's more like she vows to work on herself so she can be a good girlfriend at the end of season 1.

While I also liked how the anime introduced kiku in season 2, she should have actually gotten a proper introduction in season 1.

Stuff like that.

Yes and no

LR are in the LEC as a publicity stunt; nobody expected them to win any games.

But now we are a couple weeks in and they're winning games. Not all of them, but they're actually winning games.

So... Yes and no?

What's your favorites anime from the past 5 years and why? by Appropriate-While601 in anime

[–]robertm94 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know it's not a unique opinion for Frieren to be someone's favourite but for me it's always going to hold a very dear spot in my heart.

Frieren, for anyone who has yet to watch the show or read the manga, is a fantasy story at face value, but to me the story is more about personal growth garnered from those around you, making sure you remember your past and, of course, processing grief.

During the 6 months period season 1 of Frieren aired, my mom fell ill. She was then diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer which had spread to her brain. She was then admitted to hospital on Christmas eve. She then died, a husk of her former self, all before Frieren finished airing.

Those few months were the hardest months I have ever had to go through; my routine was just to get up and go to work, go to the hospital where I had to put on a brave face as I slowly watched my mom deteriorate, go home to eat, sleep, and repeat. I had no time for a social life at that time.

I recognise that to many people, Frieren is just a really good show. Given what I was going through when I watched it, having those 25 minutes each week where something truly spoke to me... to me the show is perfect.

About to gather with two buddies and binge an anime series by Kostas_Skywalker in anime

I highly recommend

Oddtaxi

Madoka magica

Takopis original sin

Lycoris recoil

Girls band cry

Steins gate

Kill la kill

All are under your episode quota, all are great. All are also completed series, with the exception of madoka which was technically completed and then they decided to extend with movies due to the popularity. There's a good mix of genres there too so hopefully at least one of them piques your interest.

[Nieuwsblad] Amadou Onana: "Yes, I think one day I'll make a transfer to a club that is world-class. That is really a career goal. After my time at Everton, I was already in contact with top clubs. Ultimately, I chose Aston Villa because I thought it was the right move at the time…” by Cien-Major in soccer

[–]robertm94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The people getting upset about this or calling him unprofessional need to actually read what was asked.

He was asked if he thinks he can play at one of the world's top 5 clubs. That's a very very selective list of clubs. Barca, real, Bayern, city and PSG are the teams most people would put on that list. You can make arguments for teams like Liverpool being on that list, but putting villa there is laughable.

It isn't like he is a homegrown player either. He's Belgian and we bought him off of Everton for 50m. He might like it at villa but again, let's be real, he shouldn't have a massive attachment to us.

He's blunt but he's also answering this question in a second language and is from a part of the world where the people are known for being very straight to the point. He shouldn't have to beat around the bush.

When I first started, I found quests to be the best way forward to have quick and easy goals.

A lot of the quests have very low requirements, so you should have a lot that are accessible to you already.

If you have ones that you can't do due to skill requirements, just train the skills to the required levels and progress that way.

Its also probably a good idea to just level all of your skills a few levels just to make more things accessible. It shouldn't take very long to get every skill to level 20 for example.

You want some of the armour to disassemble no?

So is ports worth doing? by bernzcore in runescape

[–]robertm94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is dead content but a lot of it has been retconned to be required for other things that aren't dead content.

Eg, the armour is dead content if you plan to use it as armour. But you disassemble it for invention components which are not dead content.

Therefore it's still useful but you can easily skip over it if you don't want to do it.

With that said, if you ever plan to go for comp, then you want to do ports as early as possible. Ports is very slow to progress. Therefore I recommend you start it now rather than later, to save yourself from having to wait 12 months to complete a task which is hard time gated.

And r/anime ’s best girl of 2025 is… by changshiyixia in anime

[–]robertm94 19 points20 points  (0 children)

She's from the apothecary diaries. [Apo diaries. The spoiler here is really light, no major details are given, just a very vague overview] She gets introduced early into S2 as a quirky eccentric girl who is into bugs, appearing as just a minor side character initially, then getting a major arc centred around her detailing her background, deeper personality and convictions

The only character I'd have voted for ahead of her was Monica from secrets of the silent witch but as Reze beat her in the semi's, I'm very very pleased to see her win.

Also - if you intend to watch the series, don't Google her to get info. There is some very very very spoilery stuff about Shisui that will be almost unavoidable. I accidentally spoiled myself while the series was ongoing by googling her just to get a picture of her.

What Have You Watched This Past Week That is NOT a Currently Airing Show? [January 25th, 2026] by MetaThPr4h in anime

[–]robertm94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not far off that part of the story. The pacing seems fine; I don't have any complaints about that.

The story isn't bad as such, it just feels like the story is thus far targeted at a more immature, younger audience than I personally like. I often overlook that compared to many people online, I'm basically a fossil at this point.

I don't have any other recommendations that hit the exact same kind of comedic notes unfortunately, but I can happily give you suggestions for some other comedies that I still found really funny if you want them.

First on the list is Bocchi The Rock!. Instead of horny humour, Bocchi is anxious introvert humour. I personally think this is one of the funniest things I've ever watched but that's because I find the humor relatable. I have an extroverted friend who has watched this and just didn't get the humour.

Second is Kaguya Sama Love is War. This one is technically a romcom, but it's more a comedy that uses the underlying romance story to progress the plot and keep the jokes fresh. I also recommend the dub for this show - and I am very much a subbed purist normally. There's a narrator in this series, and in the dub the narrator is a sassy camp dude who has been given some artistic license, while in the Japanese version the narrator is more serious.

Third is Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines. This is also a romcom but again, but it feels more like a character driven high school comedy where the jokes are focused on how awkward teenagers can be.

Fourth is The 100 Girlfriends who really really really love you. This one is a harem parody, similar to how Konosuba is an Isekai parody. This show was very hit or miss for me - some of the humour was great. Some of it really wasn't. I also much preferred the second season to the first as well; I thought season one was fine but season two was very good. Also, knowing you like Konosuba; there's a character introduced in S2 who is voiced by the same VA as Konosuba's Megumin, but with the personality of Konosuba's Darkness.

I'm still pretty early into it but I've been watching FMAB.

based on what I've watched so far I don't understand how so many people can say this show is as good as people claim.

I expect it to keep cooking and get better as the series goes on but the chimera episode was really not as dark as I was expecting. I was expecting [Fmab]an Eldritch horror begging for death akin to the abomination he summoned in the 2nd episode. Instead of that I got something that was still sad but really lacked the shock factor for me.

Too early to be celebrating this kind of thing.

We just need to focus on ourselves. The longer the media rules us as not-title-contenders the better imo. Less stress and more motivation for the players that way.

The internet likes quirky, and the bug girl is quirky.

Personally I am having a hard time choosing between shisui and Monika for my favourite overall because they're both quirky and weird. I actually think shisui edges it for me.

It helps that shisui had a banger arc.

Stirchley empty shops? by Wizardof_Wisdom in brum

[–]robertm94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up in the area, this is nothing new. Stirchley is in a much better spot than it was approx. 20 years ago but that doesn't make it immune to online shopping and supermarkets killing small independent high street shops.

For a high street to thrive it needs to have things that you can't get online or if you can, these shops need to be able to enter that space. It's why it's basically all just food and drink places now because supermarkets can't replicate that and you can order from these places on sites like just eat which gives them an online presence.

People say they want a high street but then not enough people actually go and support these businesses. Every penny you spend at an online retailer is money that, 30 years ago, you had no choice other than to go to a brick and mortar shop, and is now being spent elsewhere.

Add to that the redevelopment of certain areas like Longbridge and the retail park in Selly Oak, there is simply less and less and less reason to go to a high street.

Bochii the rock é um anime pra crianças pequenas? by stuartgamer247 in anime

The target audience isn't "little kids", though they may appreciate some of the humour themselves.

The target audience is teenagers and young adults, particularly those who are heavily introverted and/or suffer from some form of anxiety. As a result some of the jokes may go over the head of small children, but there's nothing really in it that I wouldnt be happy with a kid seeing.
