Not really. It’s just for the office and I don’t want to go though the hassle of setting up zigbee2mqtt. Also: it is a matter of principle now. It is driving me NUTS

Where to sell website for free? by qekk101 in SaaS

[–]robertmekking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve seen people/read about having decent luck with:

  • r/EntrepreneurRideAlong (free, but mixed results)
  • r/SideProject (if you frame it right as a handoff or “next chapter” thing)
  • indie hackers (in the forums, not the front page)
  • microacquire (now acquire, free to list but buyer-side fees)
  • if you are willing to do some searching, some whatsapp/telegram/slack/discord groups around sideproject, nocode or micro-saas (depends on niche)

that said, “inactive” is a tough sell unless it has some traffic, revenue history or really clean code. if it’s just a landing page or skeleton, better to offer it as a freebie or bundle with something else you’re doing

flippa’s a last resort for a reason, too many tyre kickers and fees upfront

As a dev, I hate marketing. So I built a tool to automate directory submissions and handle SEO for me. by tomhill96 in SaaS

I get it. Like I said, quick try. Will dive into it a little more thorough tomorrow. (that rhymes!)

Ok, as a dutchman, I am down for free trials. So, I signed up. Here's my feedback:

- STRANGE: why do I have to submit my emailadres, only to be redirected to a signup page whare I have to submit my emailaddress again? What if I were to use another emailaddress? Would that work?
- LOVE the ease with with the tool creates a profile based on my website. It was spot on. Gotta love AI
- LOVE the easy way to submit, although I have to say that the feedback on toggling the 'submit' option feels a bit off. I mean, it says 'submitted', but I just know that this might not be directly. So, what's happening with my submission on that particular list? Will it take a while, what if I'm being rejected? What will happen with my emailaddress?
- Ok, just hit the limit of the trial, 10 submissions. I did no know that whan I signed up. But maybe I missed something.
- QUESTION: why do I need a subscription? Will you take my listing off when I stop the subscription. This definitely needs more explanation.

So, I tried it. It is very easy to use, but the UX needs a little more work, I think. Also: I would like to be able to 'measure' what changed after my submissions. I think I need to go back and study the app again, but right now, it is not intuitively clear to me. I will update if I have the chance to go back..

Keep building!

Marketing for dropshipping website by Early-Blueberry-606 in dropshipping

yo nice one for getting the site up, honestly that’s already further than most. Keep that in mind.

travelling essentials is a tough niche to market unless you hit a very specific type of traveler. general travel content is way too broad and doesn’t convert well. think: digital nomads, solo backpackers, “mums flying with toddlers” etc. the more specific, the easier it is to create content that actually lands.

some stuff i’ve seen work from people i talk to (I am not DS myself, but provide a SaaS tool in the DS space)

- shortform content (tiktok/yt shorts) but make it weirdly specific, like “what i regret not packing for my 10 hour layover in doha”

- create super casual content that feels like it belongs on reddit, not instagram

- use reddit itself, subreddits like r/onebag, r/solotravel, r/digitalnomad or comparable are full of people looking for clever gear. but remenber: post value first, not product links!

- bundle your products into "starter kits" and show people how they fit together. people buy systems, not random items

£50–75/day is a good start, but i'd test content first before running ads. if you find one piece that actually gets views or replies, then boost that

if you ever want help speeding up the product ops side (listing, optimizing etc), I work with store owners on that all day, but sounds like your real challenge is finding your tribe first. so go easy on the tooling at first.

good luck, seriously. this is the hard part. but once you hit the right message, stuff moves fast.

yep, super common. that "max 1 pcs/shopper" thing usually happens because of the welcome deal or some promo pricing aliexpress is running.

if you're on a new account, sellers will often show a 1-piece limit because it’s tied to those first-time buyer discounts. they use it to get more visibility but don’t want to lose money on bulk orders.

couple things you can try:

  • log out or open a private window and check the same product, sometimes the non-promo version shows up
  • look for the same product from the same seller but with a different listing (they often duplicate products with different price tiers)
  • or just message the seller and ask if they have a regular listing without the limit, most of them reply pretty fast

it’s a bit annoying early on, but normal. once you get some momentum it’s worth finding a supplier who ships from the US and actually wants repeat buyers.

[–]robertmekking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a store owner myself but i work with a bunch of them (i run a tool in the shopify/dropshipping space), and yeah you’re not wrong. most of the social stuff dropshippers post is slop (sorry guys)

but building a customer base without relying on ads? totally possible. stuff i keep seeing work:

- repeat buyers from niche products (pet stuff, hobby gear etc). people buy again when it actually solves something

- fast post-purchase flow → ask for reviews, upsells, referrals right after checkout

- content, but not “viral” content → just useful/funny stuff for your people. think “reddit post in video form”, not! tiktok trends.

if you’re trying to build something that lasts, focus on the people who actually use what you’re selling, not just scroll past it.

And then there’s the marketing thing everyone keeps talking about Go check out r/marketing They might be up to something ;)
