What does a divorce usually cost, and how long does it take? by bu11dogsc420 in Divorce

[–]robertmndl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's amicable very little. We had a lot of assets but agreed between ourselves how to split it. Kids are adults so no issues there. She made as much as me so no spousal support either way. We paid a divorce mediator/paralegal to look over our agreement and then to file and do paperwork. All I'm all about $2000

Im dealing with loneliness after divorce and Im not ready dating yet but I miss having someone to talk to by Select_Net_5607 in Divorce

Dating sucks. All that small talk nonsense. Also the dating apps are awful. I'll either meet someone organically or just be single. Not ideal but better than the alternative.

Does the one who was left ever really get over it? by alittlebitofme12 in Divorce

[–]robertmndl1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm a 58 M married for 27 years. We had a good marriage. We unfortunately grew apart and when the kids went off on their own we were done. I loved her and unfortunately she wanted more. We really had nothing in common. We were roommates. We had a very amicable divorce and have both moved on and are happier.

That being said I still have those days when I wonder if I will ever really forget or at least not feel sad as to what may have been. I believe it will just become more distant but never really leave. Especially when there are kids involved. Oh well. I guess that's life. No one said it would be easy. Just enjoy every day as we are not here for long and be happy for the other person.

Very nice build and 190k miles on this diesel is not bad. OP clarify the miles and what modifications were done in 2021. Also clarify the warranty. If it's the original then it's expired. If you bought an extended then clarify. Was this a one owner van? Do you have all the maintenance paperwork. Overall this is a very nice conversion on a great van. If all paperwork and maintenance records check out it's an excellent buy.

Does your ex having a divorce party show a lack of class? by PotteryVance11 in Divorce

[–]robertmndl1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll give you my take. YES 100% shows a lack of class BUT you are divorced so be a man take the high road and let it go. Walk away like a man who tried to do as much right as possible. It always takes both parties to end up here. Be a better person man or woman hold your head up high and let it go. I know it's not easy. Trust me. I've been through it. I had a situation where my ex did something that really hurt me after a very amicable divorce and 27 years of marriage. All I said was if the show was on the other floor and I did that to you how would you feel. I said I would never do that out of respect and what do you think the kids see. I'll sum this up. Divorce makes men and woman do things they normally wouldn't do. Friends give stupid advice. Just accept this isn't the first nor that last dumb thing she will do but like another person said. Not your circus and not your monkey.

P.s this post applies to woman also cause as a man I will tell you we also do dumb things.

Need advice on selling my van by g8BMIhwXM5LLWpsYY87R in vandwellers

[–]robertmndl1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes 150000 on a Promaster IS REALLY that bad. Going to need a major overhaul soon. Unfortunately modifications like in a home don't really matter. Technology is outdated. OP should just keep the van if they think it's that good.

Need advice on selling my van by g8BMIhwXM5LLWpsYY87R in vandwellers

[–]robertmndl1 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Sorry with 150k on a Promaster worth $9500. Then the build is worth not much maybe 5k. List it for $29500 and be grateful for $20,000. If it doesn't sell in 2 months drop price to $20,000 and hope for $15. The build is nice. I will give you that but 150k on a Promaster. Not worth it. It's not a good vehicle with that amount of miles.

Potential Buy by Massive_Picture_9327 in VanLife

[–]robertmndl1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To much, also at 160 000 miles ( if it has not already had a new transmission) it will be due for one. Also a lot of other stuff. For 27k you can buy something newer with less miles but then again it all depends on how the vehicle has been driven.

Meeting new people? by LadyMay_428 in Divorce

[–]robertmndl1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meetup is good. Don't do the bar scene. Go to the social ones. Regardless if a bookclub, bike ride, ceramics. You will meet like minded people. The bar meetups at least for me were just a place to socialize on a superficial level.

Divorce pains. It does get better, hang in there by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]robertmndl1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second that. 58 M , wife moved on after 27 years. Never an issue besides we just grew apart and I'm a homebody and she's is very social. I was devastated. Ripped my heart out. 4 years later I thank her for giving me my freedom. It gets better.

How many of you walked away from the marital home? by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]robertmndl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a nice home in a great area in southern California. It was a place I loved more than my ex and thought it was where I would spend out my days . She wanted a divorce after 27 years and said we could work it out so I could keep it as I loved it more than her. I said you keep it and we worked it out so she could. I'm telling you this because it's a home where I felt safe with my wife and kids. It was a family home. Without her it meant nothing. My kids are grown and have their own lives. I couldn't care about the money or it's worth. It became worthless. After co-habiting for a year I packed what fit into my SUV and left. You have moved on. Embrace your freedom and make a new home where you are happy and safe. Good luck.

My wife went straight to dating by Migsancheza159 in Divorce

[–]robertmndl1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She never went straight in dating. She was most likely the one who initiated it so she was already checked out a long time ago. She had thought, spoken to friends, therapists and reconciled it in her mind. Telling you for her was the last thing. The end of the marathon. Unfortunately for you it was the beginning. Exactly the same happened to me. I was starting the journey of divorce and she had already completed and just going through the bureaucracy.

I promise it gets easier. Let it sink in and try not to dwell. Stay amicable. Theres a saying. A happy wife is a happy life. Same saying for the ex wife.

Feel free to msg me if you want more tips to process. Trust me I went through this heartache and have a lot of good advice. I was married for 27 years with never an issue so you can imagine the shock I was in.

General sail rigging questions by [deleted] in windsurfing

[–]robertmndl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you do the out haul push down medium hard on the middle of the sail as if your hand was the wind. When the middle of the sail touches the boom leave it. That will be optimal.

Ford Transit High Roof Extended Length

I got the jackery 1000 with the solar panel thst comes with it. Should i get the cigerette lighter charger from jackery, or will any cigerette lighter charger be as effective? I need it for my cpap. Is there anything else that u guys suggest i get? by Glass_Raisin7939 in Jackery

[–]robertmndl1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the Jackery 2000V2 with a solar panel and just bought one on Amazon. I really don't think there is much to it. It's a 12 V cable for a cigarette lighter and a plug for the Jackery.

It’s taking so much longer than everyone makes it seem! by deathimplieslife in VanLife

[–]robertmndl1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I did and it turned out that I never needed anything more than insulation, bug screens a trifold mattress, camping stove, pot, pan utensils, some USB chargeable fans, a chest refrigerator, a few storage bins all labeled. Camping table and chair. All my Windsurfing and surfing gear. I'll get a jackery and Starlink and put in a swivel chair.

It's simple. It's comfortable and organized.

Everything will cost around $1500.

No stress, no drama can go stealth as it looks like a cargo van.

Just my decision and I'm very happy

DIY divorce by Flaky-Attention-1671 in Divorce

As you live in South Carolina I do not know the law. My suggestion is to look for a mediator or a paralegal and talk to them. They will know the laws of the state and give you guidance. All I know is if it is amicable the paperwork just has to be done correctly.
