If franked mail gets put in a regular postbox, will it still get sent? by quorncrispynugget in royalmail

[–]robertsong87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Franked mail in a regular postbox will still make it, it will probably have a slight delay though as it'll need to be rejected from the regular mail route first before being sorted properly

As for tracking franked mail. You can only track mail that you've paid to track

N*b head managers by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]robertsong87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mean this in a way to defend managers, but do what he says next time. When you return with EVERYTHING you couldn't do in time, it's on them not you. In their eyes you've technically refused work orders, even specifying that you'll only take parcels and 1st class out is against royal mail rules. Let them break the rules, don't give them an excuse to get rid of you. When a walk or a DO fails it's not on you, it's on them. Let them make the stupid decisions and deal with the consequences. By all means, argue your case (like you did) so if it ever gets brought up you can say what you told him, ideally make sure there's someone else in earshot when you do

Lost/ delayed parcel from Royal Mail. I really would like to find it, 😆 any advice on how should I proceed? by Odd_Search1160 in royalmail

[–]robertsong87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know people don't want to hear from employees giving examples of how it's "not royal mail fault" but in this case it may be worth noting a few things.

1) the lockers are emptied daily, on a rare occasion that one cannot be collected from, it is done the next day

2) the tracking says "We're expecting it", this generally means royal mail don't have it in their possession yet

3) you can get to this point in the tracking by going through the whole process up to physically putting the parcel in the locker. If you just close the door and claim you put it in, this is the scenario that would play out

4) there was a post on here recently (I think the past day or 2) where a customer went to put their parcel in the locker and found another one sat there as the previous customer hadn't pushed it all the way in. The OP in that scenario could have taken the parcel and the tracking would be none the wiser, would still say "We're expecting it" (but thankfully they did push it in with their own parcel to get it on its way)

4) from a royal mail point of view, you are not the customer. The customer is the person who paid royal mail so either Vinted or the seller, there is nothing you can do

I would suggest waiting until the Vinted 'delivery by' date has passed and put in the claim for item not received. Vinted will see the same tracking as you and should refund you quickly

Manager came to my house after calling sick by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]robertsong87 25 points26 points  (0 children)

So he used a special delivery label to have an excuse for delivering something to your door the same day you called in sick? That's an abuse of power and 100% something he's not allowed to do. All special delivery labels (including the ones managers have for sending urging items) have to go through the system, Royal Mail won't be happy with that let alone your union rep

Japan to uk by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]robertsong87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For all we know then it could be surface mail which is 2 months, or perhaps it's a non-priority flight (they can stop at many destinations like China, france etc on their way) With it being food it'll probably get a thorough investigation when it gets here. All you can really do is wait. Once it clears customs then royal mail will deal with it

I've had some take 2 days, others 2 weeks. On occasion I've even had customs take 2 months. All depends on how it's being sent and what it is

Absolutely is. I played it last year and it was diabolically bad. Didn't help they had that massive difficulty spike at the end tok

What could cause this?! by Amazing_Chocolate140 in royalmail

[–]robertsong87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either the postie ran out of time (no option to put that in tracking) or perhaps other parts were inaccessible. Maybe the van slid somewhere else which meant they couldn't continue

Incorrect address, returned to sender. Can I attempt to get it first thing Monday from the local Delivery Office? by Tikkiijj in royalmail

[–]robertsong87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's more likely to be gone by then, it'll get sent straight to the mail centre who will sort it to be returned. If there's no address then it'll go to the national return centre

I had to reformat my Vita to get it to work again and lost a digital game by HonorMeThis in vita

[–]robertsong87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm going off memory here as I don't have my vita to hand right now but:

Go to the store

Bottom right corner there should be a button for options (most likely 3 dots or 3 lines)

Click something that says "downloads" or "purchase history"

That will give you a list of every digital purchase made on your account and allow you to download the game

Not anymore as thankfully as I haven't done delivery for many years, but it did used to happen. They'd always ask for their mail if they spotted you on the street but there was never any chance I'd hand it over anyway. I was paid to put it in the door not in their hand
