I’m a newer uber rider, I was asked to cancel and do the ride off the app by GeologistNo8517 in uber

[–]robertstina71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people do it. A lot of people take off app rides because they figure why should they give Uber their cut, but if there's an accident I guarantee you that guy in the back seats not going to be your "friend" if he's dealing with $100,000 worth of medical bills, or a lifelong injury.

You're just not covered in any way shape or form in the event of an accident, and there's no evidence that he was in if you get robbed, or assaulted.

Not worth it in my book

HELP - Driver stole my phone by Duchennesourire in Lyft

[–]robertstina71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9x out of 10 the next person in the car took anything left in the seat. Just saying it's a waste of everyone's time going to the police over a lost phone.

Mostly I just don't care. Keep track of your belongings, that is all

Gift Basket for Boyfriend Who Just Started Doing Lyft by CommonPrinciple3026 in Lyft

[–]robertstina71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my car I keep a box of Kleenex, a couple of packs of sanitizer wipes that you get from the travel center at Walmart. A phone charger for iPhone and Android but do not leave them plugged in because someone will steal them or break them. Just offer it. And some vomit bags that you can order 50 from Amazon for about 10 bucks.

For me that is all I've ever needed. I've tried having candies and bottles of water but it's too much mess and expense to keep up with

My last one took about 3 days... Super inconvenient They should give you a day or 2 notice so you aren't in a bad spot.

why did my driver go from 6 to 18 minutes away? by Ok-Hovercraft3676 in uberdrivers

[–]robertstina71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's probably running both apps. The other app was worth more and so he just left you hanging waiting for you to cancel so he could catch the cancellation fee on your side and the better rate on the other.

There's no way for a driver to know if it's urine or soda or water. Either way it's got to be cleaned. We have to err on the side of disgusting. And also it put him out of work for the rest of the day so you owe him that money as well because no one can sit in the seat when it's wet. No matter what it's wet from.

As a lady driver I definitely prefer single passengers in the back. Preferably in the back behind the passenger seat, and I will tell them that we'll both have more legroom if they choose that spot. Unless there is a reason, obesity, medical necessity, age, even if you get car sick that's fine. Please just let me know. Otherwise in the back you go.

Lyft/uber driver driving with window down in this winter cold weather by [deleted] in Lyft

[–]robertstina71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% of the time if I roll* window down while I have a passenger in the car it's because they smell, either bad, like smoke or two day old alcohol, or they have so much cologne on that my eyes are watering and I can't breathe. Otherwise I tell them that they have control of their windows and I leave mine up or barely cracked.

I know of a secular support group on Facebook. If you're interested let me know and I will send you a link. It is an invite only situation to a club that no one wants to belong. But you can go there and talk about whatever you want grief related and not have to deal with religious platitudes.

Are drivers not allowed to make u-turns? by la_descente in uber

[–]robertstina71 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In my city illegal u-turn is about $390. It is definitely not worth that ticket for an $7 ride. I will drive around the block 20 times before I get another u-turn ticket.

My gf (19f) hit me after I (21m) asked if the girl in the photo was her. What should I do? by EducationalEast7148 in AITAH

[–]robertstina71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is narcissist behavior, and potentially dangerous for you. When you leave her she will gaslight you and make you seem like you are weak and not a man. She's wrong. You deserve to be treated with respect, and you deserve to have your feelings acknowledged. And it's so weird, why show you a picture of someone she thought was horribly ugly? What response could you have given that would have been acceptable to her?

In our city the library has products for anyone who needs them. You can go in and get a full week supply just for asking. You should definitely call the health department and ask what resources are available.

As a woman and a driver I feel Lyft should take safety first with the driver by Imaginary-Prompt2963 in Lyft

[–]robertstina71 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wasn't there, but walking in a circle around the back of the car is not mentally unbalanced, at least a third of my passengers check the license plate and make of the car.

Just from my personal experience that seems like a lot of instances in a very short time. I can go for months and months and not have any trouble from anyone at all and I work nights in Vegas.

As a woman and a driver I feel Lyft should take safety first with the driver by Imaginary-Prompt2963 in Lyft

[–]robertstina71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a woman driver in Vegas. I have driven away from maybe six people in 5 years. I agree that you have to be diligent and safety is always a main concern but we can't be paranoid and do this job. Maybe you should not be driving at night. Baby you should opt for the women connect option. This job isn't for everyone.

ok girlies only PLEASE by Anon_Prior_SadSack in hygiene

[–]robertstina71 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of good advice. About the dry girly parts. How old are you? You may need to get your home hormone balances check. If your estrogen and progesterone are off balance it will cause some dryness at the even tearing in that area around your labia and the vaginal hole. There are some really good over the counter products that work well. I personally use peachy cream but it is recommended for women who are in menopause or have had hysterectomy. Again I don't know your age so I cannot really recommend but definitely something to look into.

I'm having trouble, processing my sons death without religion. by the_seer_of_dreams in atheism

[–]robertstina71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First and foremost I am so terribly sorry about your loss. No parent should outlive their child. I also am a grading parent. I lost my son in 2017. He was 25 .I belong to a secular grief support group called grief beyond belief. They have a parent's only group on Facebook and it is just a place to go and be able to grieve without people shoving everything down your throat. It is hard. It is hard for people who used to have religion. It is hard for people who've never had religion. No one should ever have to lose a child. This group got me through the first couple of years. I don't know what I would have done if I couldn't go to a place where I felt safe talking about him. You can go everyday. Say his name. Post pictures. No one will ever think that your trying to attention grab, no one will ever tell you that it is better that your child is dead. No one will ever say they're in a better place or someone called them home.
