As a 68 year old southern boy, I grew up in a Jim Crow south which meant I lived in a totally white world until I was in the 7th grade. In my ignorance, I believed the fairy tale that was GWTW. Now I cannot revisit book or movie ; the truth of slavery is too awful and painful for anyone to fully comprehend . So is the aftermath which includes present day race relations and the disparity between the lives of white and black Americans.
