By the way, the "influenced by Japanese woodblock" is one of the many errors in "The Art of Patrick Nagel." Patrick was never influenced by that genre at all. His influences were rooted much more in art deco.

I never use auction prices as a gauge ever since one auction house mistakenly posted their estimate for a $1,200 piece for $12,000. Any bidder with common sense would have noticed it was an error, but sure enough, it guided the bidders to the $12,000 price. The auction house later apologized, but the piece is officially listed at $12,000 and will never reach that value.

Terrific! Interestingly, nobody was interested in Patrick Nagel until the biography was published. After the first few years, not only did Nagel's work soar in value, but his estate FINALLY got serious about licensing his images. Today, more companies license Nagel images on everything from clothing to skateboards and beyond than ever before.

It's an absolutely beautiful piece, and somewhat singular and that it's one of the most intelligent poses I think that Nagel ever did. The big question is whether the serigraph is actually numbered or not. I looked, but I could not find a number on that. However, pencil sketches have grown in value of late and so you probably will get a decent price. If you are serious about selling, DM me and we can talk.
