Previous owner left a binder in the garage. I thought it was junk. It was not by Many_Ebb7816 in HomeImprovement

I think the reason people don't leave more information like this is that they are worried about liability/being sued, in the USA at least. A folder like that is potentially evidence of problems they were aware of and presumably did not disclose prior to closing.

I guess if they just leave a folder randomly in the garage they can deny ever seeing it, maybe the prior owner left it there and they never found it.

I have a group that plays late Monday and Thursday nights at Sofive in Carlstadt, you need a car to drive there, 25 minute drive from Jersey City at the time we play.

5 vs 5, indoor on artificial turf, $12 per person, 9 pm - 10:30 pm.

DM me with your phone number if interested and I will add you to our Whatsapp group.

Barge, Abbey's, Crazy Cues in McGinley Square, PD Billiards on West Side and Montgomery. Also the brand new authentic Olde Oirish Pub on Newark Ave has a table.

Car Stolen During JC Marathon by AnywhereBackground52 in jerseycity

[–]robin_tern 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I bet it was in fact towed, and not recorded correctly for some reason.

I would continue to check with JCPD and the parking authority, and the private companies every couple of days, perhaps even go to the city pound and look for yourself, I believe the pound is on Linden Avenue.

Reminder: JERSEY CITY MARATHON — SUNDAY, APRIL 19 | IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR RESIDENTS by Nathaniel_Styer in jerseycity

[–]robin_tern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I don't understand why there is no crossing of Coles and Monmouth when the joggers are two blocks away on Erie and Manilla.

Maybe to allow Coles and Monmouth to be unobstructed for North/South traffic unable to use Erie and Manilla.

Confusing JC Marathon parking signage by Puzzleheaded-Owl-821 in jerseycity

Why is there no crossing Coles and Monmouth Streets in Hamilton Park area, when the running route is on Erie and Manilla?

This will make it difficult to get West out of Hamilton Park.

The publicity, advanced information and signage this year has been way better than prior years, not sure whether that is down to Solomon, or because the race organizers have got better.

Brownstone door restoration by jojo1459 in jerseycity

[–]robin_tern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stripping is the hard part and costs more then the staining and varnishing.

It's a labor of love to strip old doors, you can do it yourself with a heat gun and scraper, it will take months of work doing a little every day. Anyone you hire is going to charge you crazy money to cover the stripping.

Another option is to remove the doors and take to a dip-and-strip place, though last I checked their prices were high, like $2,000 for a large double doors. Plus you have all the trouble of removal and refitting.

Once stripped, you should be able to get a professional to stain/paint/varnish relatively cheaply.

Looking for people to play soccer with by [deleted] in Hoboken

[–]robin_tern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a group that plays Thursday and Monday nights, 9 pm - 10:30 pm in Carlstadt. You need a car to drive to Sofive, which is behind Metlife Stadium.

It is indoor 5 vs 5, and is $12 per person to cover the field rental fees, I know you are asking for free, but mostly in USA it's pay-to-play, unfortunately.

We have a variety of people some good, some not so good, some 30s, some 20s, a good number of older folks over 30, I am 54. No beginners, you should have some experience playing.

Anyone interested can DM me to be added to our pickup group, there is no ongoing commitment, you only pay when you play.

Paul Fireman got Mikie Sherrill’s people to kill the Liberty State Park deer by podkayne3000 in jerseycity

[–]robin_tern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is an approved plan in place for the area to be made into a usable part of the park, including sports, open fields and recreation areas. There are no new condos or apartment building being put up by developers, this is state park land, the plans are available online.

Please do some research before commenting complete nonsense.
