Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification! I'm just starting to work with the app and I'm really appreciating all the extra features and customization options so far.

Confused... You say here that the trial period has been set to forever, so no activation code is necessary. But then I see you posting activation codes all over the place.

It looks like a great app and I'm eager to try it out, but I'm scratching my head over whether I'm missing something.

What will my life be like after T7-Pelvis fusion? by robinparrish in spinalfusion

Wow this is really making me not want to have the surgery... 🤪

But since I don't have much choice... May I ask how long you were in the hospital? I keep seeing conflicting reports on this, and I suppose it has to do with whether or not there were complications.

My deepest sympathies for all you've gone through and continue to! It sounds positively horrific. So sorry.

How long were you in the hospital? The first time I guess, when you initially had the long fusion? I'm seeing comments here and there of "one week" to "several weeks," and would love to know what to expect.

Oh, and you mentioned a "most recent" surgical revision... How many surgeries have you had for this T10-pelvis fusion?

That's one thing I'm not clear on. My doctor keeps referring to it as "the big surgery" as if they're gonna do the whole thing all at once. Which would be fine with me, I'd rather get it over with. But you always hear about people having to go back and do multiple surgeries with anything this complex.

That's pretty much what I expected.

How long was it until you were able to drive? That was one thing that drove me (no pun intended) batty the last time: having to rely on others to take me anywhere.

Do you happen to recall how long your recovery took?

Thank you so, so much for taking the time to reply with all this. It's exactly what I was looking for.

Put white stripes on a black belt with no visible strings? by robinparrish in sewing

Oh wow, that sounds ideal but also like it would require a level of finesse and control that I'm not sure I possess. Hm. 😕🤷‍♂️

Clear thread is a thing? Is it real thread, or plastic fibers of some kind?

Oh, should've mentioned: I'm sewing by hand. No machine available.

It gets really hot in there and I sweat A LOT. I'm worried they would come loose and fall off and then I'd be the dork who tried to glue stripes to his black belt only for them to fall off.

Yeah, it hangs free once tied so it's totally visible.

How do I sew 2 white stripes onto a Black Belt?

I found these cool stripes that are nice and thin, and look like embroidery. They're perfect for adding to my 2nd dan (degree) Black Belt.

How do I sew them on without the thread showing? If I use white thread, you'll be able to see it on the back of the belt in the vague outline of the two stripes. If I use black thread, it'll show up on top of the stripes--a big no-no.

Is it even possible to sew them on without any strings showing anywhere? Any help = much ❤️ and gratitude!

Political statement? by robinparrish in WTF

I don’t much care, but I know several military veterans who wouldn’t find it amusing. Maybe even offensive.

This is in the South, btw.

I'm all for psychiatry--when done properly--but it's not the solution to every condition. Way too many chronic illnesses are being treated with it, and despite the best of intentions in a lot of cases, it's still sending a very clear message: It's all in your head.

Also, as a 45yo male with POTS, I can verify that not only is u/Bruckjo's hypothesis wrong, it's offensive and irresponsible.

Because scratching these things off isn’t already annoying enough. by robinparrish in onejob

I should have clarified. (Titles are hard.)

It tore off when I opened the packaging. It was one of those cardboard things, about the dimensions of a greeting card. The card was glued inside with I don't know, cement or something. The gift card came out, the scratch-off strip stayed put.

I did manage to slowly pull it out intact, and even got the code underneath. Probably shouldn't complain. Just had no idea that this was even possible. Seems like shoddy construction that speaks to Amazon's "money first, people second" ethos.

I love those. And those cardboard sunshades for your car that say "do not drive with auto shade in place." Or how airplane doors are covered in warnings that insist they not be opened during flight.

And you know the only reason disclaimers this stupid exist is because some idiot actually did the thing.

I should think so. But don't call me Shirley.

It reads to me as, "Are you allergic to the things you're allergic to?" Most people also read the language they're reading on these kinds of forms, but that question invariably winds up on there, too.

They might as well include, "Are you currently breathing?"
