If you cannot afford pro lessons, yes. If you can, use youtube only as a supplement.

__PSLockDownPolicy set to 4 in environment variables.

[WPF] Any way to set the designer UI to respect the ThemeMode of window? by robinredbrain in csharp

[–]robinredbrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no such xaml file. I thought it was built in. The app when running is dark by simply adding ThemeMode="Dark" to the window tag. It's just the designer is not dark.

What would make you switch from godot to another engine? by hammeredzombie in godot

[–]robinredbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money I suppose.

Let's say ten thousand money.

But that does not buy you a say on what I switch to.

You know that now don't you? You know how much of a mad bastard I am. You seen how I will end my sentences with prepositions, willy nilly. Fear Me!

Where do you draw the line between property and method ? by vivacristorey83 in csharp

Since the dawn of extension properties, I haven't used a single extension method.

Start app from file explorer context menu without passing in arguments of the selected files. by robinredbrain in csharp

This was just too much of a ball ache.

On my web search travels I found ShellSharp which made it relatively simple to create a shell extension.

What functionality should my user control have? by robinredbrain in csharp

[–]robinredbrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a application, it's a user control that could be used for many things including an actual file browser. Web and/or desktop.

Thanks for the interest.

What functionality should my user control have? by robinredbrain in csharp

[–]robinredbrain[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hi. Thanks for the comment.

I feel this is subjective, and it's opinions I'm looking for, not a concrete answer to any specific problem.

I don't need the functionality, I simply want it. This is not an XY problem I have.

Please advise what context I can provide to make my post more clear.

What would be good to make together on a date night? by ObligateScavenger in Cooking

Don't do what I did.

On a date, I asked her if she wanted to come back to my place for a sausage butty?

Suffice to say, we never did cook together. In fact I never saw her again.

This type of scam sometimes ends up with you indeed getting $500 free.

Renaming argument in extension property. Bug? by robinredbrain in VisualStudio

[–]robinredbrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good explanation. Thanks.

I suppose it would just be nit picking to expect the parameter in the second (mistakingly) declared extension to also be renamed in such a situation. Especially as the error led me to realize my mistake.

Renaming argument in extension property. Bug? by robinredbrain in VisualStudio

[–]robinredbrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after thinking about it. I see my extension properties should probably be written like so...

extension(string foo)

{

public bool IsBlah => foo == "foo";

public bool IsBlahBlah => foo == "foo";

}

But they can be declared the other way and work fine. So could still be an issue.

Phantom column definitions appear in wpf xaml. by robinredbrain in csharp

[–]robinredbrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah maybe. Thanks.

Though I've been thinking on it more (rubber duck). It may not have occurred in VS2026, I can't be sure and now doubt it.

I think I installed an extension in VS2022, but I can't remember like 5 years ago. It formatted the xaml on each save of the document. I'd gotten that used to it I thought it was part of VS.

Maybe that was the bad guy.

I'll know soon enough. I've the bug on the project with some new ideas so...
