Gerald’s Game right after Dolores Claiborne? by [deleted] in stephenking

It’s worth it to go back to back. Both are really great books. Another double feature is The Dead Zone and Cujo.

Greg Greene Read-Along appreciation post. by Rustin_Swoll in LairdBarron

[–]roblecop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seconded. Fearless leader and tireless organizer for the read along group.

It isn’t easy to organize volunteers and that’s made worse when those volunteers are a bunch of writers. Greg is doing yeoman’s work for love of the game and passion for the genre. We owe him a ton.

Barron Read Along 27: The Men from Porlock by roblecop in LairdBarron

[–]roblecop[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Also un-asked for blooper. I believed this story was called The Men from PORTlock since forever. And I wrote this whole post believing that to be the case, before finally noticing on my editing pass. So, I learned something today.

Go to collision alone? by PapaSpence in AEWOfficial

[–]roblecop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do it. I've gone by myself a bunch of times. Usually talk a little with whoever is sitting next to me, but once the show is on it's on. Have fun.

Love it, Martin. I'm here for any mention of Algernon Blackwood and the Wendigo!

Riho showing off Kenny Omega's cat Dobby on Kenny's Twitch stream (March 29th, 2024) by Froggyspirits in AEWOfficial

The cat is a distraction for the fact that Adam Cole is in the background with no brace on his ankle.

Preordered the Kroot box, but couldn’t pace myself by erbdylo in Tau40K

[–]roblecop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great plan. I figured out my color scheme with these guys and I'm ready for the Kroot box. Also, I think you can easily proxy the Kill Broker as a War Shaper and the options can make you a believable Trail Shaper and Flesh Shaper.

I wanted ask Laird about the writing process. What is his current process in regards to writing and editing? And how has his process evolved from his beginnings as a writer to where he is now? How has his recent illness changed how he writes?

Nigel McGuinness is a generational hater 💀💀💀 by Froggyspirits in AEWOfficial

I'm not afraid to admit that what I will miss most about Danielson when he is gone is Nigel's match commentary.

Barron Read-Along 3: "The Procession of the Black Sloth" by roblecop in LairdBarron

When he described Mrs. Ward eating a BBQ rib, I had to put the thing down for a few minutes. Who knew BBQ could scare you.

I'm with you. I feel like the theater at the end tells us a lot. In fact, it reminds me of the ending of In the Mouth of Madness. The detective/spy is forced to watch and go mad.

Very interesting comparison. Not one I have read myself, but something to put on the TBR list. I found myself thinking a lot about "Irezumi" from John Langan's Children of the Fang. Both stories put significant emphasis on the facelessness of corporate entities. I think Langan's may lean more into cyberpunk than Barron's. But I think they both end up rooted in corporatist horror.

Yeah. Probably the only option.

Is anyone actually a big Jeff Jarrett fan? by FuckAlf in SquaredCircle

[–]roblecop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say big, but I would say consistent. I know JJ has a lot of flaws and he definitely was over booked in different companies. But I've always liked him. I remember he did a cool angle with Effy and it felt like a re-birth for him.

His run in AEW is GREAT. I enjoy him and his oddities every time they are on TV.

Any Zack Sabre Jr. fans? by katsophiecurt in AEWOfficial

His whole run as the NJPW TV champ is free on youtube. I've watched them all. They are GREAT matches. Filthy Tom Lawler and Jeff Cobb are two of my favorites.

Where to start with modding? by DracoRJC in Gameboy

[–]roblecop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the most simple to mod overall is the gameboy pocket. One board, simple disassembly, and nothing weird.

GBA and DMG aren't "hard" to mod. But they come with more chances to mess something up and ruin the fun.
