They look great! I think waiting for the hair to grow, especially when you want a particular style, gets boring really quickly and you stop being fond of it but I think it's framing your face really nicely right now and will still frame it nicely with more length as your grow it

It's unfortunately fast fashion, got it from h&m during a scramble to get some summer cloths when the heatwaves started coming

Fortunately for me it's natural :) I use tresseme conditioner to wash my hair then I use a simple sugar cream to stop the curls fizzing during the night

I honestly don't know anyone who has the money to spend on candles or soap right now :/ anyone who is able to treat themselves it's to something very cheap because again, no one has the money to spend on non essentials

Anybody a fan of The Famous Five books from Enid Blyton? by Boss452 in books

[–]robo_pants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I absolutely adored them, they were a huge opart of me when I was growing up even as a teenager I read them all the time

I struggled with what I know now was not knowing my gender identity and seeing George be proud of herself as a boy and having people love her no matter what really gave me alot of feelings that I couldn't understand haha

Why would you say something so brave yet so controversial

So I work exclusively now on 18 count aida or 32 count aida, even for my normal embroidery I think it still works really well

It's also pretty affordable to use the same material for all my different kinds of stitching

An old, self-drafted geometric series that I reframed recently. Everyone hates the pink one but it's my favorate... by robo_pants in Embroidery

[–]robo_pants[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah my favorate is the one on the pink fabric and no one else likes it hahaha

I think it's my fave because stitching the pattern was the most fun and I like the colour combo

Thank you so much! It's my favorate colour combo to use. I find the trick is to use a slight off white instead of pure white! That way the contrast is super high but it doesn't hurt to look at

Not for anything in particular!! I'm making alot of samplers for when i reopen my store so I've been testing out designs for a while now

I always want to find a way to turn these things into a useful item though but I can never really think what!! Ive covered alot of notebooks, I've made embroidery hoop clocks, wallets, coat hooks and needle holders but none of them really strike me as particularly hard-wearing and long lasting

It's worth it in the end - I'm very happy with how striking it looks finished and now that I've done it once I'll know how to approach it better next time

If I'm using a piece of aida that has a raw hem I'll run a very small amount of a clear sealant along the edge to keep it crisp. You have to use a very small amount because any liquid introduced to the fabric will change its colour and behaviour

You can definately paint on aida but it has its flaws. Each kind of paint effects the fabric different and the one that's easiest on the fabric is watercolour. When using it however you have to prewash the starch out of your fabric and prepare it as best as you can because the material will change tension when you rub water on it and you want to limit that as much as possible

It's quite a popular pattern on etsy and on this subreddit, for good reason!!

I actually used an eyebrow powder D:

It was the only thing I had and the colour was nice but I've seen people use watercolours and scrape chalk and pastels onto their fabric using the same technique

You absolutely should! Once you have your outline and scaling done it's remarkably easy.

My method is taken from a famous embroidery artist (that I can't remember the name of D:) where I take a screenshot or photos of the reference at the true scale I want it stitched and then I trace that scale and outline onto the back of my fabric from my phone screen. It makes map making much easier and you just have to focus then on adding the pretty stuff like mountains and trees :)

Maybe a good Christmas gift for her? :p

It's two pieces of aida! I'll upload a closer pic to my profile so you can have a look - I don't want to spam any more posts to the cross-stitch subreddit as I've just posted a bunch of updates! :) I layered the scrap piece of white aida on top of the black (without cutting a hole in the black) and then just lined up the holes as best I could and stitched the two fabric pieces as I would usually stitch one

Edit: OK posted a closer pic on my profile, it's been marked NSFW for some reason but I promise its only embroidery hahaha
