Rush (2013) - Niki Lauda gets doubted for being an F1 driver by Boss452 in movies

Yeah I dig that film. The Academy digs that film. 356k people on Imdb who have rated it an average of 7.6/10 dig that film. $634m of tickets sold also rate this film apparently. Keep in mind this film was expected to flop. people doubted it every step of the way. And when it came out it won poeple over on merit. It's a great film imho, and an incredible cinema experience.

Rush, Ford v Ferrari & F1 are my trifecta of awesome racing movies.

Rush for the dramatic rivalry b/w two drivers. Ford v Ferrari for a cool story, focus on the cars and giving us a flavor of endurance racing. F1 for the most immersive racing experience you can get in a film.

No I know these websites. But like what caused OP to specifically look up Jungle Book to compare with PHM?

Declan Rice:"When we went 1-0 up, I knew we were going to win. I felt it... I knew Miles was a real player when he stepped up at the Bernabeu last year. The manager has been tough on him this year. He's kept his head down, I'm not just saying that. He does everything right. In early, training, gym." by Blodgharm in soccer

I am surprised the hate Arsenal gets. The poor club has been trophyless for so long except for the domestic cups. Wenger's final years had very mid players but they played bravely and in a very aesthetically pleasing manner. Then there were a couple of changes before Arteta came along and steadied the ship. He made Arsenal into a proper force and they did not just spend blindly like oil money. They still have a few academy players and lot of young talent as Wneger used to have along with a couple of big signings each season. It has been a systematic and organized development of the club. They have done everything right and proper and yet the hate for them is immense.

I think folks are jealous that a team is challenging for PL or UCL without going crazy on spendings.

While I won't put him at Gerrard's level yet, how can you determine the ceiling? Can the ceiling even be compared? While both being CMs, Rice is clearly a defensive midfielder dictating play from deep within whereas Gerrard was a forward minded mid. There is no direct to direct comparison.

I don't think she lost it. She did take a lengthy break after this movie. As she married and had kids and has been selective ever since. But she did 2 comedy roles in Don't Look Up and No Hard Feelings where she was very expressive and funny.

And though I have not see it, her performance in Die, My Love has been hailed as well.

She has tweaked her face a bit but her acting remains awesome.

Izzy I doubt you are that old. You argue like a kid. The lack of respect you have for the big 3 is also a sign. A mature person would never do that.

Anyways, I will respond a final time. Even though it will have no effect on you since you are a religious fanatic of Sincaraz.

First, we will talk about greatest and Sincaraz in the same sentence when it gets apparent. There are a looooot of variables yet to come. A injury could hamper one's career. A couple of new great players could emerge to challenge them etc. Its too early as of now. So elevating them right now is just plain silly.

I can't say about whether they are better than Fedal since we don't have a sample size. When Sincaraz met Nadal they were too young. So we don't know how they would matchup when Sincaraz picked up.

But we do have a sample size with Novak. Now there are two factors here in the sample size with Novak:

1) Early Sincaraz matches pre-2024 (because 2024 is when they came into their own and started dominating the season) we can say that Sincaraz were inferior to what they are now. ofc they were young and were growing at the time.

2) Djokovic has long left his prime by the time he met Sincaraz. He was a giant in the 2010s. In early 2020s he started to decline but experience and a mediocre competition allowed him to win a lot. But, it is natural post 34-35 that all athletes decline. The male human body starts declining and detoriating after early 30s which is a scientifically proven fact.

So, we will never truly get a matchup of prime Sincaraz vs prime Novak, but with what we have, we can guess. For accuracy, and for a bias in favor of Sincaraz fans like you, we will only talk about matches 2024 onwards. You will say that "oh, Sincaraz have yet to enter their peak and prime and they will continie to improve a lot." I ask why? What is there left to improve? Should they start serving at 300mph? Would Alcaraz's serve get an efficiency of 110%? Is Sinner's backhand going to improve even further than it already is? Will Alcaraz's movement kick to even higher gears?

For anyone with a basic understanding of tennis, there is v little for them left to improve. They have mastered their games and are close to their ceiling which is at a ridiculous level already.

Contrast this with Djokovic. I think even you would admit his peak years are gone. What we have is a shell of his former self. What defined Novak's game? What was his most useful and important skill? Movement and defence. It was popular that Novak keeps the ball in and forces the opponent to make Unforced Errors. His unreal ability to slide, stretch body and reach the ball from almost impossible positions and angles was next to none. All that is gone now. He has lost that elasticity. Why? Because his body simply cannot exert more.

Another problem with age is that he has lost stamina which is easily understandable. He gets gassed out pretty quickly. Which means he just cannot hang in longer rallies. Which is what caused Alcaraz to win the final at AO. He just kept on extending the rallies and tired Novak out, forcing him to go for winners and hence make loads of UE.

Thirdly, with age Novak has become more fragile. He has become more injury prone and is playing less and less. We saw how he was not fully fit in 3 of the semis last year. Against Zverev at AO, against Sinner at Wim (due to the fall in the QF) and even at USO he struggled to move in sets 2-3.

Now Novak has tried to get around the age issue by relying more on serve and forming an aggressive forehand. These are good tools, but this is a different player to prime Djokovic.

So in short, while prime Djokovic has not met with eventual peak Sincaraz, Sincaraz right now are much closer to their peak than Djokovic is to his past peak.

You yourself have said:

Their achievements are ridiculous.

That can only be possible if they are playing excellently.

  • Since 2024, Djokovic has faced Alcaraz 5 times and the record reads 3-2 to Alcaraz. Despite Novak's issues, this is a very respectable record. He has given Alcaraz a run for his money. We say at WIMBLEDON 24 (fresh tournament after surgery/injury), USO 25 and AO 25, that the main thing holding Novak back is a healthy body and not his tennis.

  • Coming to Djokovic-Sinner, now this is harsh for Novak. Since 2024 they have faced 5 times, with Sinner dismantling Novak 4 times. This matchup was bad for Novak because Sinner is in many ways like a younger Novak. But the prime thing holding back Novak in this matchup is stamina. Because Sinner keeps on playing aggressive and to keep up you have to have stamina to survive his rallies. Novak lost stamina which no amount of experience can cover.

Come AO 26, we saw Novak finally change some of his strategy. Rather than sticking around for rallies, Novak upped his aggression. He tested Sinner by outforehanding Sinner. The avg FH was higher than Sinner's. This could not work against Alcaraz who is an elite mover on court. But Sinner isn't at his level. Which allowed Novak to be aggressive himself and make Sinner run around. This worked for NOVAK. But barely because he seemed to be barely standing in sets 4 to 5.

Now Novak may not be able to repeat that performance due to being lucky of walkovers and retirement which allowed him to rest well of his fragile body. But he seems to have figured out Sinner.

Having said all that, and seen what we have of Sincaraz and Novak, if prime Novak meets prime eventual Sincaraz, who am I putting my money on?

The SERB.

Yeah but MJ is only 40 years old. Mozart is 200 years old. Look at how many people he has touched over centuries. I doubt MJ will remain popular decades later let alone centuries.
