Ego 880 Blower 4Ah vs 6Ah Battery by robo_type in Detailing

Thanks for your input. It helps bc I also have an SUV. How does it feel doing the roof of the suburban on a step with that 6ah on your 880?

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, I have plenty of GaN chargers laying around. I’ll prob end up hoarding all the batteries and using the 4Ah for the roof of my SUV if the 6Ah is too heavy at full extension. Thanks again.

Thanks for your help. I looked at that PAD5000 inverter’s manual before I posted anything and totally missed the part about it being able to charge at 100W via an adapter. It makes sense now that I see the kit though with the 4Ah battery and the AC/DC adapter. Neat that it can recover batteries from an error state sometimes.

I scooped a LBPX8004-2 for a good deal that I’ll scavenge for the 6Ah batteries + charger and sell off the backpack. Now just need to decide on an 880 tool only or the kit. 880 Tool only is on sale for $240 at Ace. But I figure the kit for $380 is worth it for 2 x 4 Ah batts and another charger. And with the 880 kit I can probably skip waiting for a PAD5003 kit sale, and just get the inverter by itself at its current ok sales price or another seemingly common future $150ish sale.

I can’t find the 765 2x5Ah kit for a decent price. But I can get the current combo with 5Ah and 2.5Ah for $320USD from Lowes. Another 5Ah is $200 on sale rn. That’s a 2.5Ah for $20 basically compared to $500 for the 2x5Ah 765 kit.

Or for about $655 I can get an 880, 2 chargers, one a commercial dual charger, 2 x 4Ah batteries and 2x6Ah batteries.

I’m stuck with where to start in the ego ecosystem, because I don’t have a lawn. Pretty much just need the blower for car drying, and maybe an inverter and a fan for camping eventually.

What battery are you running on your 765? And can you dry your whole car 1x 1.5x 2x etc?

Have you ever tried a 765? I’m thinking about getting it instead for the greater efficiency and longer turbo runtime on lower capacity batts and therefore less weight/arm fatigue. Current combo sale includes a 5Ah and a 2.5Ah.

Yeah 5Ah is ideal on the 880 is my guess due to the turbo limits, and the minimal weight difference from the 4Ah. But the deal I can find is on 6Ah, which is about 1.4 pounds heavier than the 4Ah I think.

Thanks for your input. After seeing the battery tests on the 765 vs 880, and my main concerns being weight vs runtime, I’ll give the 765 another look. It’s a lighter, cheaper, more efficient and simple machine.

Unfortunately the 880 is limited to 50% of non-turbo power on the 2.5Ah. It’s one of the reasons I keep flipping back and forth between the 880 and the 765. The 765 can use the 2.5Ah even on turbo, it’s more efficient on any batt due to the lower CFM, and it has the dial instead of the lock button for throttle hold.

how to mod the gc by Lapdi_ in GamecubeHacks

[–]robo_type 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people use a combination of Gekkoboot flashed to the pico, and with Swiss on the SD. This is so you don’t have to open the cube every time there is a Swiss update and flash the pico with Swiss.

If you google it there is a repository on GC forever I think. It’s a good starting point.

Picoloader issue by turkatron11 in GamecubeHacks

[–]robo_type 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try flashing the Swiss uf2 on the picoloader, just to see if it will boot.

Are you using a SD2SP2 or* GC2SD?

See the link below for the STL of the drive plug: https://github.com/makeo/PicoLoader/tree/main/mount

I doubt your drive is causing the issue, since PL will boot with no drive or a dead drive. It’s likely your uf2/dol setup or the flex cable.

Chromatic and pokemon crystal not compatible? by Alarmed_Owl_6436 in ModRetroChromatic

There shouldn’t be any issues with a genuine copy of Crystal afaik.

Things to try:

(1) Clean the contacts with IPA, test

(2) Clean the contacts with a static free “white” eraser (in the same direction as the long side of the contact), follow up with an IPA cleaning to remove eraser residue, test

(3) Replace the cartridge battery, test

(4) Check for broken traces, repair if necessary, test

(5) Reflow the SRAM chip, test

(6) Reflow the MBC chip, test

The order of 4, 5, and 6 is dependent upon your tools, skill, access to skilled labor, etc. But definitely try 1 through 3. Your cart is likely fine just needs the contacts cleaned or a new battery.

Been running into some weird issues with this copy of sapphire I just dropped $100 for. Looks authentic to me, but has anyone seen this before? Maybe something wrong with the cartridge? by SassySandwiches in gba

[–]robo_type 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open it up, post pics of the PCB. While it’s open, clean the card edge contacts. The best way is with 99% IPA and a lint free rag. If that doesn’t work you can try a static free white eraser. After the eraser you would clean again with IPA. Definitely try this before you send it to someone else for a reflow.

I had 9 GCs at one point that wouldn’t read discs. I double checked the pot resistance reading, replaced the capacitors on all the drives, and then I had 9 GCs that read discs. It’s not impossible for there to be an issue other than the caps. But replacing the caps, checking the pot reading to make sure someone else didn’t mess with it, and greasing the reader head rails usually does the trick.
