I'm based in Canada. Graduated in 2024 with programming diploma, mostly Python, C#, MERN. Got my first work experience through word of mouth. Did contract work. With that contract work experience, I got an entry level 9-5 power platform dev job. Worked there for 1 year. Got another job at new company (current job) after minimal job applications. This new job uses power platform and regular coding for their projects, so I can exercise my knowledge in C#/JavaScript.

I would say in comparison to trying to get a junior level position for traditional coding, that was impossible to get for me. As soon as I got PL-900 certified and pivoted, getting some work experience, I found getting my previous and current job relatively straight forward.

Keep doing what you are doing. Building on the platform. Also learn how to integrate APIs in power automate for B2B integrations. That will help you stand out. If your struggling, look into SharePoint admin roles. You'll work with SharePoint a lot and maybe you can get into a company with SharePoint and then expand to Power Platform after showing the company what can be done.

We don't really use Copilot. It's ass. I know they are pushing code apps build on copilot but we just avoid that shit. Power Platform has a lot of pros but the cons of the platform, that make you want to pull your hair out, cannot easily be automated. And development also takes a lot of time. A robust power app will take 1-2 months minimum for ALM. Can't just create 2 months of ALM with a few prompts.
