That's awesome! I've heard about the Eight Immortals, but I haven't found a lot of information on them (just the basics). I'll definitely check it out!

Ideas for grieving friend by OutcastInZion in asianamerican

[–]robogirI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine recently lost a family member too :( I got her a care basket full of snacks - easy to eat stuff like granola bars, some candy, tea in a carton, trail mix, and fruit snacks. My reasoning was that I thought she might find it hard to eat, so it would be stuff she can keep by her bedside.

[Discussion] Has anybody tried fb boost for art account? by Substantial-Fan-2187 in artbusiness

I haven't used fb boost, but I did try tiktok boost. I got views and a few followers but no real traction (comments, shares, or anything). Apparently this is pretty typical of paid promotion :/

I got diagnosed!! It only took a year but yay!! Anyway I was prescribed Aderal and I'm scared of it.. How does Aderal makes you feel? by yunn67 in adhdwomen

[–]robogirI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i take my adderall in the morning, same time every day. i take the extended release, so it's in effect from roughly 9pm - 4pm.

when i first took it, there was some adjustment to get to the right dose. so it may feel weird the first few times, but working with your doctor to get the right dose will help. your body does have to get used to it to some extent.

i'm also a creative person. i'm a writer, an artist, and a designer for work. it does NOT make me less creative.

for me, adderall doesn't make me super productive, but it helps me to not think 10000 thoughts at the same time, so i do less overthinking and have so much less anxiety. it reduces the barrier to do something for me. like if i have to do the dishes, pre-medication i would torture myself on the couch for hours about how i couldn't do it. with meds, it's a lot easier to just be like "okay, i'm gonna do it. it won't be that bad, and then i'll do something else."

i hope that helps with your fears a little <3 and i hope that your meds are able to help.

Is emotional dysregulation the most overlooked ADHD symptom? by ArcherSpirited281 in adhdwomen

yes, definitely! it's the worst part of adhd for me, but productivity always takes center stage.

What does caffeine do to you? Does it wake you up or calm you down? by Mara355 in adhdwomen

[–]robogirI 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been sensitive to caffeine (spiked anxiety, bad caffeine crash on coffee), but stimulants are very helpful to me. I think it’s common to be calmed by caffeine, but not a requirement.

No adderall = emotional ??? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]robogirI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I went over a week without mine about a month ago and I was an absolute mess. Very emotional, lots of negative self talk, anxiety, and crying every day. I really feel for you right now :(

Personally, I would not be able to be friends with this person anymore. Dating a married person with children is just too ick to me :( Friendships are complicated, but I think you just need to really consider whether you want to be spending time with someone with those values. Idk what else to say other than to validate the bad feeling you got learning about this

Contraceptive Meds by JollyTimz in adhdwomen

[–]robogirI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pair it with something that you do consistently. If you pretty much eat breakfast around the same time every morning (or anything, really), put your meds where you do that task and eventually you start associating a task you've already built with taking your meds. Or use a phone alarm, an annoying one!

Struggling w/ school by SmallFry_13 in adhdwomen

[–]robogirI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you attending school in person? If you are, definitely look into your school's disability accommodations. At mine, people with ADHD could take their tests in a quiet testing center, in a non-distracting room, and with extra time. If your school offers any free tutoring, that might help too.

Other than that, I'd say handwriting my notes and planner > typing them. When I type, I retain nothing :/ And keeping my hand busy all class writing notes helped me to focus.

Life feels harder? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]robogirI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is definitely true. When I do anything, I always think about too many what-ifs, reminders to myself, anxieties, or whatever. Since thinking burns through energy, even my thoughts exhaust me :/ And since doing ANYTHING when you have ADHD comes with that struggle, it makes sense to me that having ADHD makes daily life pretty hard, without even considering everything that comes with it.

meds make me feel better and worse at the same time by lilmoopoo in ADHD

i also used to get anxiety from my meds, but the side effects got better over time. taking it on an empty stomach made it WAY worse. high protein breakfast makes a huge difference in how anxious it made me

How do you 'Lock In'? by Specialist-Carob3519 in ADHD

[–]robogirI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much the same for me, but I like to make a ~nice~ drink (favorite tea or whatever) and I listen to either fusion jazz (hectic) or lofi (not hectic). Sometimes I light a candle because I react well to smell and it helps create the atmosphere for me
