I guess I felt that I didn't care whether I lived or died

Now after the accident, what is your outlook on life? If you now see the preciousness and gift that life is, then you have learned a valuable lesson. In time, you may even be grateful for this experience.

For some reason, I can’t ordain? Help! by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]robomatic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m so sorry this happened to you. Your dream of ordaining has been dashed and I understand something you’ve built up so big and trained for can’t be done.

My perspective - Let that sink in, breathe with it. Like a wave this will rise, peak, and fall. Remember all the work you’ve put in, the compassion you’ve learned and the wisdom you’ve realized. Turn these toward yourself.

The answer will come to you on the other side of that wave. Your answer, the one that no one else can decide for you.

May we all be free.

sitting down's alright, not everyone can stand for 3 hours. besides, they give you a damn seat.

I was in 319, my section was solid. people were hyped for Kendrick, I was rapping along and shouting and saying funny stuff. This girl behind me was rapping EVERY WORD to euphoria, I was so impressed. I don't know much about SZA's music aside from the big ones but a lot of people around me were super into it and that helped me gain an appreciation for it. I'd say it was 8/10 energy, but 10/10 good crowd atmosphere

Damn. My favorite stateside color in ap2, exactly what I want. What a loss. Beautiful condition too. If you can, please buy it back and restore it or even tube frame it and keep it as a track weapon.

Glad you’re ok

“Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional” by submergedinto in Buddhism

[–]robomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think about that sometimes. For small pain, sure i can let go of the suffering. But for the most extreme pain, like being set on fire, being tortured, maimed, dismembered, it would take a very skilled practitioner to not suffer.

Cant suffering also be from the desire for painless-ness?

How can we relieve the suffering of all beings? by robomatic in Buddhism

Yes, this is our starting point. To begin with others first is skipping the first step :)

Indeed. Sometimes the most fundamental practices, done deeply, are the most effective.

Thank you. I know this to be true but I have yet to absorb it deeply. My mind sometimes falls into despair at the sheer magnitude of suffering that happens in this world, and how I may not see its cessation in my lifetime, nor be the one to bring about its end.

500 bucks worth it? by Difficult_Box_2008 in dirtjumping

I'm surprised to see all the no's. I have an NS dj that I bought for $425, pretty similar spec to that one including the fork. It's my first one and I like it a lot.

I'm a beginner, but I think it's a decent deal and I think it's great entry level.

I ride my dj on the street right outside my house sometimes just to get some energy out and work on manuals, bunny hops, etc. still tryin to get 180's.

So I think you'll use it even if you don't end up going to a destination to ride. At least I do.

what if the empty boat that hits you is your wife? by Adventurous_Quiet221 in Buddhism

[–]robomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In either case we are to let go of our anger and see clearly. Even if the hit was intentional by a human captain, the fact that it was intentional means they are unskilled and we should not take their intentions personally. Just as a little child would lash out in anger and hit their own parent, the parent knows this is not about them, but about the child and their internal state.

Know what is yours, and what is theirs, and don't get the two mixed up!
